Hi I'm Douglas!

I am a regular person that makes mistakes, a simple follower of Jesus Christ and indeed I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am a brother, husband, father, friend, son and good neighbor! I work with people, businesses, computers, hydrogen, efficiency, self sufficiency and have many varied interests in a broad range of life experiences! I can't help but love and serve others as I go along my way! I love to be in the wilderness riding bicycle, motorcycle, quads, just walking and talking with family, friends, and acquaintances or alone! I like to walk quietly up a mountain, in the desert or just about any wilderness anywhere in the world! I enjoy all Gods' creations around me and strive to respect them from the smallest to the largest! Contemplating my place in the universe and all that it means then discussing it with others is joyful indeed! The greatest joy I find is in the true happiness of my family and others! I don't mind being happy myself too!! :) So I strive for that daily!

Why I am a Mormon

Simply a regular man, I often feel as though I am the worst sinner on the planet! Have you ever felt that way? I need Gods' help as much or more than anyone in my own estimation! Because of that realization, 20 years ago I turned to Him in genuine prayer and supplication. What happened next was interesting, strange and new to me! The answer came through a thought in my mind and a feeling in my heart to go and turn the TV on! Can you believe the TV? I decided to do it anyway as strange as it seemed! What happened next was strange to me, the first thing on the TV was a commercial from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints about family! Because of that simple feeling in my heart and mind, the answers to my prayers in such simple, soft and easy to understand way, I began my search for truth! Eventually in the Lords' time, people were placed in my path. They offered here a little and there a little as I was willing and prepared to hear. I had the missionary discussions. I knew it was true by that same pattern, my heart felt great and my mind felt peace! I chose to act according to what I knew to do now instead of giving into my fears! Because of that simple act of faith, I have learned deeper than I ever thought possible, that God loves all of His children including ME! I use to think that Gods' love was for everyone BUT me! Nothing could be further from the truth! From the greatest to the least the Father loves us all and desires all to simply repent, keep His commandments and be baptized! I do all I can daily to accomplish His will with all my heart! When I fall accidentally or willfully, I utilize my desire to overcome the problem and fear, return to Him and repent of all those acts that are not in harmony with His desires! If I can make a change, then everyone can do so with a simple desire put into action!

How I live my faith

Naturally my family is my first priority! They are sometimes the easiest and toughest to "live" my faith with! So we work together and play together! After my family, I enjoy being a home teacher! I personally believe that if everyone had a good set of loving home teachers, who visit them monthly, there would be a great love that would indeed change the world from the inside out! I believe that my simple acts of sharing the message of Jesus Christ and His unconditional love for others are my personal gift of gratitude to my Savior Jesus Christ! Next in my mind, the question comes, what more could one do than simply love your fellow man, beggar or rich, bond or free, male, female, child or adult, sinner or saint? Every act of kindness I do is truly an act of love of the Savior? With that in mind, I simply reach out to the community with every opportunity that presents itself or that I can find when I have extra time! I enjoy working at Deseret industries whenever I can! Volunteering to help distribute food, clothes and other necessities of life to others when times are tough or easy gives me a little feeling of self worth and accomplishment! Volunteering with the Scouting program and helping young men find out who they are while gaining real life skills brings unparalleled joy! Working with the local schools for outings as a chaperon is so wonderful! Especially when I see these young minds growing and discovering the world around them in the best ways possible! Naturally service in the temple is a vicarious way to help those who have gone before! Doing something for others that can't do it for themselves is uplifting and brings me great joy to know those who await those blessings now have them as well! I must admit I struggle with saying no to any activities that will bring good! I just want to do them all! Despite that desire, I know enough to balance my family, work and free time and if I don't my wife is kind enough to remind me! :)
