Hi I'm Zyanya

I am a Canadian Photographer...and a Mormon.

About Me

I am a small town farm girl. I graduated from university in 2008 with a visual arts diploma, and I am working hard to get my name out there as a photographer. It's not easy, but it's something that I love to do, so it's worth it! In my spare time I love to sing, act, dance, play the piano, read, do crafts, cook, bake, and spend time with my family. I enjoy spending time around children, and I look forward to one day in the future when I have my own family. The pure innocence and beauty that can be found in the world when you look through the eyes of a child is astounding...and in a world of turmoil and opposition it's those moments that help remind me of why I'm here.

Why I am a Mormon

I am the oldest of 5 children...and I was lucky to have been born into a family that allowed me to be raised as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Both of my parents were converts in their teen/early adult years, and I grew up knowing that they were raised differently, and being well aware of why they made the decisions they did to be baptized into the church. The choice to join the church resulted in much opposition from their family members. Even though I didn't have to face that from my immediate family some members of my extended family have made their negative thoughts about the church very well known throughout my life. As I grew up, and moved out I began to have a lot of questions about the church...mostly just about concepts that are difficult to grasp and require a lot of Faith. With my scriptures at hand, and the power of prayer to guide me I began searching. I truly wanted to know the answers...ALL of them! After a time of not finding what I was looking for I noticed a change in myself. I had been through some challenging experiences, and my Testimony was starting to weaken. I found that I had more questions than ever...the answers to which I used to know. This realization startled me, and I found a renewed desire to get back to the basics. I learned through that time that, even though I don't know all of the answers, there is Someone who does, and as long as I have the Faith that everything will happen how it's supposed to I don't need to worry. From that time forward I have just focused on those things that I DO know for sure, and built my Testimony around that...and I don't stress about what I don't know anymore. Surprizingly enough, as I have done this the answers that I was searching for are beginning to come! I know that this is the Gospel of Jesus Christ in its fullness. I know that we have the opportunity to live together as families in the next life! And I am so grateful for that knowledge :)

How I live my faith

For the last almost 6 years I have been involved in various roles with the children in the church. It has provided many wonderful learning moments for me...and I love that! Also for the last few years I have been living in an area where the church is small, so each person does a few different things to help out. During this time I have been in charge of setting up and leading the music in our meetings, and I have been very involved with the Young Single Adults in our area. This past summer I was the chair of a committee that organized a conference for 200 Young Single Adults...we had people that attended from all over Western Canada and it was wonderful! It gave me huge opportunites for growth, and it also gave me the chance to get to know a few people locally much better. I am currently in the process of moving, so we'll see what church-related adventures await me in my new home...
