Hi I'm Chris

I have run three marathons, I am a bike mechanic, and I live for skiing the big mountain. I'm a mormon

About Me

I love being outside, before my mission I loved downhill mountain biking, road biking, running, hiking, backpacking, you name it. I worked as a bike mechanic during the summers and I loved that job. I have attended one year of college already. I am the youngest of four children. Everybody in my family is married, and I'm the baby!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a mormon because I know that this church is true. I believe on it with all of my heart and I know that I would be lost without the knowledge that comes from this church. I was born and raised in the church to amazing parents that taught be the difference between right and wrong. I didn't grow up as a perfect kid, I am a human being which means that I have made mistakes in the past, I have done things that I have regretted and felt sorry for and had guilt for; but I know that all of those feelings can be relieved and even forgotten because we have a friend, brother, or Savior: Jesus Christ that was willing to take those feelings upon himself so that we could overcome those awful feelings of guilt, sorrow and pain. I know that He really did suffer and die for me and that he loves me and that he loves all of his children. Up until I was about 18 I didn't really have a firm testimony in the Book of Mormon or in the gospel. The only thing I knew really for a surety was that when we follow God's commandments and when we do what is right we are happy. About 2 months after my 19th birthday I decided to read the Book of Mormon all the way through (I had only done it one other time when I was only 14) I read the whole book in about 2 weeks. I REALLY wanted to know whether or not it was true. In the 10th chapter of Moroni there is a promise that if you pray and ask God whether or not the Book of Mormon is true, He will make it know to you through the power of the Holy Ghost. I decided to ask. I got on my knees believing that I was going to recieve an answer to the prayer I was about to say, I very specifically and humbly asked if the Book of Mormon was true...after that I laid there for the whole night, (I could't fall asleep) and I had the most indescribable feeling. It's the same feeling that the Nephites describe in 3 Nephi 11:3...and it caused their chest to burn. I had that feeling and I knew that God answered my prayer. That's why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday that I can by looking for opportunities to help and befriend others. I love people because the faith that I have has helped me realize that God loves everyone on this earth and it is important that we love one another and help one another. I live my faith by trying my absolute hardest everyday to live God's commandments and to follow the counsel of my church leaders. When I was at school there was a church branch there where students met together on Sundays and we also met on Monday nights to have fun activities together. I coordinated those activites in that branch! We would do things like go to sports games, go bowling, play ping-pong, go on group dates, or even play minute-to-win-it games! I was able to make a lot of friends in and outside of the church doing this.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Missionaries will share a message about Jesus Christ with you. They will share the message of the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ (or more simply how our church began). They will teach about the plan of salvation, (the plan of salvation specifically answers these three great questions: where did we come from before this life, why are we here, and where are we going after this life?). The missionaries will help you gain your own testimony and help you know for yourself the truthfulness of the church and its teachings. The missionaries will help you gain a testimony through inviting you to read from the book of mormon and praying to know if it's true. Show more Show less
