Hi I'm Don

I have lived in Arizona all my life. I am a husband and father of six children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love being with my my wife and children. I have two kids on LDS missions - daughter (going to Japan) and son (going to Argentina). I'm excited for them but I do miss them. I love living in Arizona. I like to travel. I like to experience new things. I want to live to be 100 years old and run a 10 min. mile when I get there.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because: 1) I know The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true and that knowledge of its truthfulness burns deep in my soul. If I should ever abandon this church or say that I am not a Mormon, deep down I would still know it is true. 2) I love how my life is because of being a Mormon. Everything about my life is better because of it - my relationships, my health, my economic situation, my own self-confidence and sense of worth, and my ability to deal with challenges in life. 3) I love the person it is making me to become - more patient, more loving, stronger character, greater faith and hope for the future. (Don't worry, I still have a long way to go in all these areas but I love the direction it is moving me.)

How I live my faith

As a family we attend church (all three hours) every week. We also try to pray together and read scriptures together everyday. The everyday thing gets challenging with teenagers and the demands of everyday living but the whole family recognizes the blessings and the value this brings to our home, they also see the opposite when we don't. we also try to get together as a family each week on Monday night for family home evening. On this night we sing a hymn, we share spiritual messages and discuss family concerns. My wife and I share two callings (positions) in the church together: 1) We are the Young Single Adult advisers, which means we work with the single adults between the ages of 18 and 30. We help plan activities for them and encourage them to socialize with each other and to continue to be active in the church. This age group has many challenges and face many crossroads in their lives but they are an awesome age group to work with. 2) We also teach the Temple Preparation class together. This is a class that is designed to help people prepare to attend the temple for their first time. We love teaching this class and getting to know the people who are preparing to make this great step in their life.
