Hi I'm Laura

I'm a Mormon. I grew up a member w/ a member mother and non member father. I am not perfect nor claim to be. I am human by nature.

About Me

I am a mother and wife. I have my cosmetology license. I love going to the gym, being active, taking care of by body. I have made many poor choices in my life that have hurt others and that have caused me much grief and pain. I have not always lived the teachings of the Savior, serve my family friends and neighbors. Loveing, cherishing and caring for my family was not a priority until recently. But I have, through the atonement of the Savior and His teachings, been able to find the peace and joy He wants for me. I can forgive myself and be better in my role as mother and wife. I worked for so many years putting more effort into my job while my family suffered. When I made the choice to quit so many opportunities became available to be so I am now in a better position than I thought could be possible. i miss the comforts of more money and insurance, but nothing is more comforting than knowing I can 100% care for my family without the interuptions and stress involved with my old job.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church. It was just what my family did. My mother allowed me to go to my friends churches, just as long as I went to church. And I would go to other denominations often. When I left home I didn't do it anymore. When my daughter was three she would tell me I needed to take her to church. Because I knew the LDS church was the true church with the true teachings of the Savior, that was where I wanted her to go. Over the years I began to be strenghthend again in it's teachings and in time began attending not for my daughter but for myself. Today I am a Mormon because I love my Savior. I love my Heavenly Father, I know they live, they love me, they want what is best for me. I can only know these things by what I have learned as I read my scriptures, attend my Sunday meetings, and serve my fellow man. I am a mormon because when I wanst living the "Gospel Principles" my life was a mess.

How I live my faith

I keep the ten commandments. I serve faithfully in my callings, whether I am a childrens Sunday school teacher, or a 1st counselor in the womens group Relief Society. I am friends with others in my ward and not just my immediate family. I look at all people as children of my Heavenly Father, whether they have my same beliefs or not, we all of us chose His plan to come to this earth and prove ourselves wothy to return to His presence. I recognize that none of us are perfect, especially myself, and that the atonement was performed for each of us. Every person on this earth can be forgiven and find the peace and joy He wants for us, we only need to repent, forsake sins, and be better. I do it everyday.

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

Laura
I recently read in the Bible, where when Christ sent His 12 apostles out to preach his word, He sent them without raimnent, or script, which is clothes or money. They were to be supported by those they taught. They were serving God and their fellow man. I compare this to our callings in the church, we do it because we love God and His Son Jesus Christ, and for our own spiritual gain. The blessings we recieve far outweigh any financial compensation.
