Hi I'm Clarissa

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Mesa, Arizona. I am married with four children and I work from home doing medical transcription.

About Me

I am a housewife and mother of four children. I work from home doing medical transcription. I enjoy working from home because I am available to my children when they need me. Although I am very busy and seldom have time for a perfectly tidy, organized home, I am thankful for the flexibility that working from home allows. I feel like this has helped me to prioritize things in my life and make sure I don't miss out on quality time with my husband or kids. I enjoy reading, playing the piano, exercising, and digital scrapbooking, but seldom have time for all of the above.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because the gospel gives me peace and security. The knowledge that my family will be together forever even after death gives me such comfort. I know that Jesus Christ died for us and that he was resurrected and lives again. God the Father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith and through him restored the gospel again to the earth. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and you can know that too if you will read it and pray for that confirmation. The spirit will testify of its truthfulness and you will feel it in your heart and mind. I know that the latter-day prophet, Thomas S. Monson, was called of God and is a true and living prophet on the earth today. He speaks God's will for us. I know that the way to find true peace and happiness is by living the gospel, by keeping the commandments, and by serving others. We have a Heavenly Father who knows us each individually, and loves us. He wants us to be happy. Not necessarily happy by worldly standards, but truly happy by living righteously. When I have questions and struggles in my life, I often ask myself, "what would Jesus do?" Then I can pray and study the scriptures. After I have studied it all out in my mind, I am always blessed with answers to my prayers.

How I live my faith

I was just called as the president of the women's organization in our ward. I felt very inadequate and worried about the time commitment, but accepted the calling because I knew that it was made by inspiration, and if God believed I could do it, then I certainly should believe in myself. I love serving in the church and working with other women in an effort to help strengthen and uplift others. I am touched every day by the capacity of women to love, serve, and enrich the lives of others. The errand of angels is truly given to women.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Clarissa
We had a stake day of service last month. Each ward was encouraged to do service for others. A member of our ward brought it to our attention that a nearby catholic church needed help with their landscaping. They welcomed the help, and many members of our ward (men, women, and children) gathered together to pull weeds, trim bushes, and clean up the grounds. The result was beautiful! It was fun working with members of another faith in achieving a common goal. Show more Show less
