Hi I'm Brittany
I am the oldest of eight children in my family. I have been babysitting since the time I was ten, and I love being around and taking care of children. I also love school and learning, but I don't know exactly what I want to do yet, or how I want to get there. I've thought about doing everything from teaching, to cake decorating, to floral designing, although I have almost decided to pursue a developmental specialist career, but we will just have to see how everything works out. I love reading about how things work in this wonderful world around us, isn't it amazing?! I will be taking a break from pursuing my education for the next 18 months so I can serve a mission, I will be leaving in November 2011 to serve in Panama.
Why I am a Mormon
I have been a Mormon my whole life, and I can't really tell you the one time in my life that it all came together and I knew that this church is true. But everyday as I live the teachings of the gospel and work hard to do what is right I grow in my testimony and in my desire to share the message of the gospel with others around me. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints makes me happy and I am excited to share that with others and bring the same happiness that I feel into their lives. Choosing to go on a mission was not an easy decision, but I know that I will be blessed and that My Heavenly Father will guide and protect me.
Why do Mormons go on missions?
Mormons go on missions to share the gospel with others. We believe that each person on the earth is a son or daughter of God, that we are all family. Now, if you had a grand feast set before you, would you want to bring all of those you love and care about to join you at the feast? Or would you want to eat all on our own? That is how we feel about the gospel we want all to know and "taste" what the teachings of the church can do for each one of God's children, because he loves each of us. The reason that I personally am serving a mission is because I know that The Church of Jesus Christ is true and because of the knowledge I gain from the gospel. I am happy, and I want to share this with others. I want to share why I'm so happy, so that if others choose to they can find the same happiness and peace that I feel. I want to tell people that Christ is their Savior and that he knows and loves them.
How I live my faith
I am currently preparing to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There is a lot of spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical preparation involved in serving as a missionary. I am so excited and grateful for the opportunity that I have to go serve the people in Panama. I also teach children 3and 4 years old at church each week, I love working and serving in this capacity.
