Hi I'm Erik.

I am from Arizona. I am a husband, a father of four, and a children's heart doctor. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an Arizona native and love the desert sun. I am happily married and a father of four great kids. I am a children's heart doctor and love to take care of kids and taking pictures of the heart. I come from a musical family and play the violin. I enjoy running and playing a variety of sports. My favorite place to be is the beach.

Why I am a Mormon

I come from line of active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, but like everyone else, I had to learn for myself whether or not the gospel is true. I come from a science background and enjoy researching answers to questions by challenging established "truths" and using logic and reason. Some might assume that I am a Mormon simply because all of my family members are Mormon, but I needed to learn for myself whether or not the things I was taught were true. My wife and I sometimes joke that there is no way the time and other commitments that come with being an active member of the church would not be worth it if the doctrine was not true! I believe that we have a loving Heavenly Father who loves us more than we can comprehend and cares about the details of our lives. I know that he listens to and answers our prayers when we sincerely want to learn what is right. In the scriptures, the Lord challenges us to ask Him if the teaching in the Bible and other scripture are true. By doing this, I have come to learn for myself that these things are true, in a way even more powerful and certain than any scientific truth I have learned. I have seen the blessings of the gospel witnessed in so many ways that I have no doubt about the reality of God, His love for us, and the truthfulness of His gospel. Learning about the gospel and trying to live the Savior's teaching brings me tremendous happiness and peace. It gives me hope and provides guidance in a sometimes challenging world.

How I live my faith

My wife and I currently teach a Sunday school class each week to young teenagers. We also participate in variety of musical programs in our church, as we enjoy directing and accompanying choirs and other musical groups. The church helps provide a never ending supply of service opportunities, such as helping neighbors move in or out, canning food for the needy, or working at a homeless shelter.
