Hi I'm Mike

I'm a single father, a gardener, a dentist, a life-long student, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I spent the first 19 years of my life in Southeast Idaho. In 2000 I went to Japan to serve a mission for my church. Upon returning, I eventually moved to Seattle, then Phoenix, and finally here to Colorado. I have been practicing dentistry for the past few years. I am divorced and have a beautiful daughter named Madelyn.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? Following Jesus Christ does something for me, it fills me in a way that nothing else can. Praying to my Heavenly Father, reading the scriptures, even singing hymns about the Savior give me strength to do what I need to do in life. So many times I have felt God's love and direction as I try to deal with my personal challenges. I have seen Him open doors for me that I never could have found on my own. Being a Mormon is not always easy. I believe God requires something of us, to help us become what He wants. But I have seen Him walking with me, especially through the darkest times of my life.

How I live my faith

The Gospel has taught me to try and take care of others. I have especially grown to love those who are homeless or struggling to care for themselves. For several years I have volunteered at various homeless shelters, preparing meals or more recently doing dental work for those in need. I am inspired by those who despite suffering from addictions or destructive behaviors, try to make positive changes in their lives to get back on track. Our Heavenly Father is a God of second chances. Or third of fourth or fifth chances. I am so grateful he doesn't give up on me.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Mike
I normally wear a suit and tie to church. I have found that how I dress influences how I act, and since I am going to church to worship God, I want to try and offer Him the best I have. I celebrate all of the major holidays in the US, including Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, and the 4th of July. Growing up, my favorite holidays were Christmas and Halloween because I love the feeling of Fall. And I liked barbecues on Independence Day. Show more Show less
