Hi I'm Ben

I grew up in Arkansas. I am in the U.S. Air Force. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. LDS/Mormon.

About Me

I am a Dad. I have five children, Triplet 7 year olds, a 3 year old, and a 1 year old. I currenlty am attending college and only have 5 classes left until my Bachelors degree. I do online studies to balance my life between church calling, U.S. Air Force, family, and school. I have been in the U.S. Air Force for 12 years, but decided in 2006 to prepare myself for life outside the Air Force by obtaining my Bachelors degree. It has not been easy as I can only do one class at a time, in order to save some time to spend with my family every night.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this Church, my Dad was a convert from the Lutheran Church, and my Mom was born into the church herself. One is always a convert to thier church no matter what. You have to believe in it in order to truly follow it's teachings. Growing up LDS in today's society isn't easy, we hold high the morale values expected of LDS members. The World today doesn't see morality as an essential thing, neither does the world hold much else sacred such as the body and its true purpose to procreate only within the bonds of marriage between man and woman. I had to gain my own testimony of this gospel, to know it is true for myself. I prayed about the Book of Mormon to recieve this testimony before going on my Mission. I knew I needed to know with a surety that this gospel was true before trying to teach people about it. I recieved my answer one night while praying and just had this peaceful feeling in my heart that the Book of Mormon was true. Having that knowledge confirmed by the Holy Ghost (or Holy Spirit) sustained that Joseph Smith was a prophet, who also translated the Book of Mormon. I have since had my testimony of the truthfulness of this gospel confirmed multiple times since, while attending convert baptisms, children of record baptisms, and during other meetings and times. I know from these experiences since my first confirmation of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, that this is God's one and only true Church on this earth. That our families can be together forever, for time and all eternity. Our life isn't one that was meant to end at death, but to continue forever all thanks to Jesus Christ. He died for us so that we could repent and keep ourselves clean, enabling us to return to our Heavenly Father, and live with him again someday. These things I know to be true, and anyone who will pray with a sincere heart with real intent to know themselves, will also find through the promptings of the Holy Ghost that these things are true.

How I live my faith

I am President of a group of men, I am responsible to follow up with these men to see if they are fulfilling their callings as Home Teachers. Home Teachers are responsible for looking in on their assigned families to assess and make sure things are going well, and to share a spiritual message a minimum of once a month. It can be more than once depending on circumstances and the families needs. Being that we all have families or other responsibilities, it is also important to balance out your time to visit these families. Additionally, I also have assisted the homeless in local community programs that provide food to these individuals in need. As a group, we have also done Habitat for Humanity, and cleaned up local recreation parks. So there is plenty of service to do within the church and outside of it in the community itself. We have also cleaned up after storms chopping up wood, and tearing down buildings that were destroyed.

Why do you have 12 Apostles? They were just meant to be around for the time of Jesus Christ, not to be replaced with new apostles.

The Church needs Apostles. The Lord has always needed these inspired men to lead and direct His church. As stated in Ephesians 4:11-14 the church is built upon a foundation of apostles and prophets. It wasn't meant for just that time period in the New Testament. However, the only way you will know these things are true is to pray about it and find out for yourself. Show more Show less
