Hi I'm LaRue

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Arizona as a 3rd generation native Arizonan. My grandfather was born in Arizona in 1900 when Arizona was still a territory. I am the 2nd of 7 siblings. I was raised in a home where kindness, love, and service were a part of the example my parents set and lived for all of us. My father was a teacher and both of my parents were very involved in teaching us and being an important and supportive part of our lives. As I grew up I was able to learn and discover the things that I believe will lead people to happiness. I am now a mother of 9 and a grandmother of 8. I have worked as a substitute teacher for several years. I love to write and have had the opportunity to use my writing skills to help and serve my family and friends. I also love to cook and bake. Family meals are a big part of why my family is so close. I am so grateful for the life I have chosen. My knowledge of the Savior, Jesus Christ, and my love for Him and my family are by far the two greatest blessings in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born into a Mormon family, I did not always know or understand the value of the gospel of Jesus Christ. As a child growing up I just took for granted the things that I was taught. As I became older i started to see how the beliefs I had been taught compared with the beliefs of other Christians. For the first time I started to appreciate the teachings that I had been given and to value those things that had always guided me and blessed my life so much. I discovered that those truths that I had been taught were the same truths that Jesus Christ had taught and that by following Him and His teachings I could find true and everlasting happiness. My life has been so greatly blessed by that knowledge and by my opportunity to be taught and know the teachings of the Savior. I am a Mormon because it is the only way that I can know and fully enjoy the teachings and blessings of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. That is a blessing to me each and every day of my life!

How I live my faith

Throughout my life I have had many opportunities to serve in the Mormon church. At the present time I am serving as a Young Womens President. That means that I am responsible for helping and teaching all of the Young Women ages 12-18 who live in our assigned ward area. Along with several other women, we work as a team to plan and provide a wholesome activity for these girls once during the week and then teach them a gospel lesson on Sundays. We love the girls and work together with their parents to help the girls to work towards the righteous desires of their hearts. We provide additional support and help to parents in encouraging their youth to make the choices that will bless and enrich their lives. I am also a Visiting Teacher which means that I am assigned as a partner with another woman in my ward to visit other ladies in our ward once a month to check on them and help them in any way that they might need help. If they need help at any time it is our opportunity to provide or take a part in getting the help for them that they need. I also have Visiting Teachers who visit me every month to look out for me too. Pretty much every woman in the church has the opportunity to be a Visiting Teacher and to also have other Visiting Teachers visit her also. I have in the past served in other organizations in the church. I have worked with the little children and with the women. I know that being a Mormon is not just a one hour commitment to be in church on Sunday but is actually so much more. it is a lifestyle that influences the choices and decisions that I make each and every day. It is a life that brings the opportunity for joy and happiness by living in such a way that the pitfalls of life can be recognized and avoided. I have the wonderful ability every day to choose to live my faith, to try to help and serve others as the Savior did, and to enjoy the abundant blessings that come from those choices as I too receive the help, service, and examples of others!
