Hi I'm Kathryn

I'm a graphic design student; I love to write; and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

Hello! My name is Kathryn. I am currently a college student and an aspiring graphic designer. I absolutely love my name: Kathryn. It has traditional roots, but a modern, unique spelling. It is simple, but (I believe) beautiful. Like my name, I hope to embrace the good things from the past and create something wonderful and original of the future. I feel extremely blessed to have grown up in a home where God was never far away. The Lord truly has guided my life for as long as I can remember. I have felt His love and guidance from my two amazing parents and all my awesome siblings. They have helped shape my life into something I can be happy with and proud of.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up with faith in my life--it surrounded me like water surrounds a fish. But sometimes when something is so close to us, we seem to look right past it. That is the way it was with me. I felt the Lord's love. His hand was in my life. But I had trouble recognizing what I was experiencing. I finally decided, around age 14 or so, that I wanted to know the truth for myself. I had heard that the Book of Mormon was the word of God, and that any person who read it and earnestly prayed about it could come to know if it was true. So I took the invitation and really read it for myself and said a prayer to know the truth. I didn't feel an earthquake; I didn't see an angel; but I felt a good, warm peace that whispered gently to me: "Kathryn, you know that this is true. You've always known it's true." My little fish eyes were suddenly opened, and I could finally recognize that it was water I had been swimming in all along. Beautiful, clean, life-giving water--the very living water that is only available through our Savior Jesus Christ. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true, and that the gospel and priesthood connected with it are truly of God. I know this is His very church, restored again to the earth through Joseph Smith--a man called to be a prophet of God. I know these things for myself--through the gentle and constant witness of the Holy Ghost throughout experiences in my life which are too numerous to count. As I continue to live according to the light and knowledge I have received, my life is blessed with joy and peace. Even through the challenges and hard times, I can feel the love of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, and I can be guided the right way. I love the Lord's gospel, and I love being a member of His church--I love being a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I really can't separate any part of my life from my faith. I feel like everything I am somehow connects back to God. I try my best to live as I know He wants me to, because I believe that is how I will be the most happy. And I know I am not alone. Every step of the way--through work and school and relationships--He is there to help and lift me up. And when I make mistakes (and, goodness knows, I make a lot!) the most wonderful miracle is that I can be made clean again through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. I know it is only through Him that I can find joy now and forever. I love serving others in the church, especially with the monthly visits that the women make to each other. As we visit together, we truly become like sisters--we are able to strengthen, support, and help one another grow our faith in Jesus Christ.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Oh my stars--so many blessings! The scriptures really keep us on the path right back to Heavenly Father. I find comfort, love, direction, and peace when I read them. They are the perfect standard to check myself by--to make sure I am heading where I want to be, and not getting off course. And when I am down or confused or worried, I can turn to them for strength and renewal. The Lord truly knew what He was doing when He gave us such a wonderful gift of the scriptures! What a blessing they are! Show more Show less
