Hi I'm Rocky

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Idaho. I got a BSEE from the U of I (Go Vandals), and work as a design engineer at Robins AFB.

About Me

Hi I am Rocky. I am happy to say that I am a Mormon. I currently work at Robins AFB as an senior electronic engineer. I work designing electronics to replace legacy parts on military aircraft. I really enjoy electronic design. With todays technology, we take FGPAs and replace several legacy boards with a one board solution. I hate to admit it; but, I rooted for BSU when they played Georgia in Football this last week. In my earlier day, it was the Idaho Vandals and whoever played against BSU that I rooted for; however, now I hate to admit it, but I like Kellen Moore and the Broncos Nation as will. I believe that the SEC is over-rated, it was great to see BSU control the game against the past great SEC team. I love Georgia high school football. They have very talented athletes in the state of Georgia. We go to most of the high school football games here in Perry GA. I'm proud of Perry's high school football team. They have started out the season by beating Houston County and West Laurens. I think it is going to be a good year for Perry. I went to a small high school were I played high school football and basketball. That is where I developed a love for the game. I enjoy working out. I am forty seven and enjoy weight lifting and running on the elliptical. I usually work out for a half an hour on the elliptical, really pushing it. I can get in a little over 3 miles at level 14 and then lift weights. I can bench 3 sets of 10 at 245 pounds.

Why I am a Mormon

I am currently a bishop (simular to a paster) . The great thing about the church is the way it helps you raise your family. I have four great daughters. They know that dad doesn't drink, smoke, or do things that I believe are harmful to my spirit. The great thing is so far they have followed that example. The Lord has blessed me a lot. My oldest daughter just finished high school. She was at the top of her class. She had an ACT score of 33 out of 36, which is good enough to get into any college she desired. She ended up choosing BYU Idaho. She has set a great example for her three sisters. They are all very smart and I love them. They all have a very power testimony of Jesus Christ. We have family home evening on Monday nights. We also do things like eat dinner as a family, say prayers together, and go the church together. I love the simple and complete doctrine of the church. I have had to defend it at times, but it's easy when you have the truth. As I said earlier, I don't drink alcohol or do drugs or anything like that. I haven't even drank a beer in my life. This shocks the heck out of people at work. It's funny when I tell people that. I am a 6'2" big man. They expect that I have downed a few in my life; but, I believe that for me that it is a commandment of god. I have been offered several beers in my life; but, never once have I been tempted to drink. A lot of time my good friends with stand up for me, I don't even have to say a word. I believe that by living the gospel of Jesus Christ makes life become easier. I love my wife of 22 years and I know that she loves me. She says divorce is not an option. Murder yes, divorce no. So far she hasn't killed me. I love her more today then the day I married her. I think it has a lot to do with having our marriage being centered around Jesus Christ. I believe that since we were married in the temple, we can be together forever. What I great blessing!!

How I live my faith

As I said earlier, I am currently serving as Bishop in our church. I have had the privilege of marrying friends. I have also had the solumn responsibility of conducting funerals. I have helped send away young men and young women from there families to go on missions. Some to far away places like ( one even went to Georgia in the former Soviet Union). I have help keep some members happily married, others whose marriage wasn't centered around Jesus Christ, I haven't been able to help. They have gotten divorced. I have help people over come their addictions, to both drugs and the pron. I have cried and had to turn to Jesus Christ for help. He is my friend, he is always there to help. I have seen great people repent and turn from there sins. They now have the spirit of Jesus Christ with them, there contenance changes and they are at peace. They are now happy. This is not anything I have done. Only Christ can change lives. I have been on several efforts to help during disasters. I have been on Hurricane relief to Katrina, Ivine, and several others. I helped out at the tornados the ravaged places like Chattanooga Tennesse and Aston Alabama. The chain saws roar as men and women volunteers work to give strangers hope. It is always a pleasure to help what we believe are our fellow brothers and sisters. All men are the spirit children of our heavenly father. Actually, I enjoy this time, I would sooner be with my brothers in the church then about anybody. We have a good time. It reminds me of a Boy Scout camp out without having to take the young trouble making young men. I also have the pleasure of coaching my daughters U-8 soccer team in recreational league. We won our league this last season. I was great, we won in overtime to a team that beat us for the championship the season before. Those little boys and girls really play their hearts out. It has been very rewarding. Hopefully, this year we can do as well.

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

Rocky
According to Wiki a cult is a group whose beliefs or practices are considered abnormal or bizarre. If the world is normal, I'm glad to be part of a cult. We try to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. We don't participate in some of the activities that normal people do. We don't get divorced after a few years when marriage becomes inconvienient. We don't have sex before marriage and only to our one and only spouse after marriage. We don't drink, smoke, or do drugs. We try to treat others the way Jesus Christ would. Others think that it is abnormal to spend time with our families. Or that we attend too many meeting that teach us how to serve others. We are abnormal people, if that makes a cult, so be it. I'm proud to be part of the church of Jesus Christ. Others who are part of this cult are Mitt Romney, probably the next president of the United States. There are millionares like the owner of the Marriott hotel chain (if you doubt this, check for a Book of Mormon in your room the next time you stay in a Marriott hotel). Former Football Quarterbacks greats like Steve Young (49ers) or Danny White (Cowboys). Current reciever Austin Collie of the Colts (hey he's a colt that belongs to this cult) and Burgess Owens. There are many other Mormon NFL football players. Basketball players like Danny Ainge (now General Manager of the Boston Celtics) or future star Jimmer Fredette recently signed by the Sacramento Kings. Show more Show less
