Hi I'm Cami

I'm a preschool teacher, a college graduate, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

In May 2011, I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in Literature, Writing and Film. Reading is my biggest passion, but I also enjoy writing short stories. My favorite author is Agatha Christie, and I'm working on reading all of her novels! I always try to solve the mystery, but usually I don't have much luck :p My other favorite books are the Harry Potter series. I'm a huge fan, and I enjoy reading the books and watching the movies over and over again. For work, I teach preschoolers literature and phonics. I love working with children, and watching them learn and grow throughout the school year. It's such a joy to know that I'm helping them learn a love for reading and school in general.

Why I am a Mormon

Why I'm a Mormon has a lot to do with my family. I'm a 6th generation Latter-Day Saint. However, I'm not a member just because my family members are. From an early age, my parents have encouraged me to discover for myself if this church is the only true church. Through scripture study and prayer, I have learned this truth for myself. I know that this church is God's church, and that it is led by Him through a living prophet, Thomas S. Monson. I know that there are apostles on the Earth, as in the times of Jesus Christ. I know Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He came to earth and performed miracles. He atoned for our sins, and died for us, all because He loves each and every one of us. He was resurrected, and He lives! Because of Him I know that I can repent, and that one day I will be able to live with my Heavenly Father again. I know that the scriptures are true. As I read them each day, I feel the Holy Ghost testify to me of their truthfulness. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, and that he restored the gospel. I'm so grateful for the sacrifice of the early Saints, as their stories are a constant boost to my testimony. I know that families can be together forever. My family is sealed together, because my parents were married in temple for time and all eternity. I know that I will live with them even when this life is over. I love this gospel, and the joy and happiness it brings me. It has made me what I am today, and for that, I'm incredibly grateful.

How I live my faith

My chruch calling is to teach the children in our ward that are 9 years old. I really enjoy teaching the children a new lesson each week. This year, we are learning from the New Testament. As I've prepared my lessons, I find that I'm learning new things too! My testimony is strengthened each time I share it in class. My favorite times are when the kids start asking me questions, and together we discuss and learn about different doctrines. I am also a visting teacher. This means that I, along with another woman, visit a few women in the ward and see how they are doing and share with them a message from the Prophet. Not only have I made new friends, but I've learned new insight as we've contemplated and talked about words from our living prophet. It's been a blessing to hear the trials of others, and how they were able to overcome them. I feel hopeful that I too will be able to overcome the difficulties I will face throughout my life by turning to my Heavenly Father for help.
