Hi I'm Chris Tannery

I love family, fitness, outdoors and I'm a program manager at an IT company. And, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love doing things with my family, my wife, 3 teenage sons and daughter. We love to go see movies, outdoor activities, nature, visit friends and my wife's favorite playing board games. I was in the US Marines from 1991-1995 and since then have enjoyed doing fitness activities like adventure racing, triathlons or really any physically challenging activities. I workout everyday (except the Sabbath Day) and feel horrible if I miss or don't eat well. I attribute a large part of being fit to my belief and practice of the Word of Wisdom. These days I'm a Sr. Security Program Manager at a large IT company and enjoy working on challenging projects dealing with Cyber Security. I also have other hobbies/interests that I've turned into some side online businesses.

Why I am a Mormon

I was very fortunate to have been born into a family that was already a member of the church. My parents were strong in the church but one thing that I can always be thankful for is they let me make my own decisions right or wrong. I learned on my own how I could lean on my Savior and be guided by the Holy Ghost. I believe my successes in life are blessings from our Heavenly Father. I strive every day to live the gospel standards so that I can have that peace and serenity knowing that I can live with my family forever.

How I live my faith

I have many opportunities for service. I feel blessed to be a part of a wonderful ward that has many Elders who contribute so much of their time for service. They are great examples to me and keep me motivated to do the same. I'm currently assistant priest quorum adviser. This calling gives me the opportunity to work with young men ages 16-18 and help them learn about becoming men. Before this calling I taught Sunday School for about 4 years to youth ages 14-15. I'm also a home teacher for 2 families in our ward which means I visit them monthly to deliver a spiritual message and see if they have any needs (I do need to do better at this!). Starting and ending my day in prayer is very important to me and my family. It allows us to communicate to our Heavenly Father and let him know daily how thankful we are for all our many blessings. Last, I strive to read the scriptures everyday. Reading the scriptures has proven to be a great guide for me and my families lives.
