Hi I'm Kody

I grew up in farm country and love the outdoors. I run marathons and triathlons in my spare time. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a father of six children and grandfather of two. I spend the early morning hours of most days running, biking and sometimes swimming. I enjoy running long distances especially marathons...this year will be number 15. I love the beauty of the outdoors and the wonder of Gods creations. I'm a foodie and love to talk about, eat, smell, create, and enjoy all kinds of food. My wife is my friend and pal. I am enjoying growing old with her.

Why I am a Mormon

The greatest joy I have felt in my life is rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ. I learned early in my youth that God loves me and has provided a way for me and my loved ones to live with Him someday. This knowledge has been confirmed over and over again by the sweet, peaceful feelings of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost has told my heart the things my mind didn't (doesn't) know. The trials of life are not punishment when we are obeying the commandments. These challenges come to teach us how to be like the Savior. He descended below all things that I (we) might rise above them. When darkness comes in my life, and it has many times, the light of relief/comfort/direction I seek has always come and I know it is because of Christ and His love for me. He is my older brother and I love him for all he has done, is doing and will do for me. My witness of Him includes His restoring the fullness of His gospel to the earth in our day. I know we have a Prophet (like Abraham, Moses) on the earth today and 12 living Apostles, each called of God to represent Jesus Christ to the world. The Holy Ghost has confirmed this to me over and over again. The Book of Mormon is another witness to the world that Jesus is the Christ...I know this book is divine and holy scripture.

How I live my faith

Serving our fellow men is really serving God. I have the wonderful opportunity to work with many members of our Church and help them fulfill their assignments by teaching, encouraging and prompting them along. My responsibilities include working with the leaders of the youth in our area. These men and women have dedicated themselves to teach the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the young men and women of our church. This is an awesome responsibility and also a tremendous source of joy. I also serve on our District Scout Committee as a Chairman of the LDS/BSA committee and a member of the District Nomination committee. Boy Scouts of America is our activity arm of the young men of our church. The BSA principles and values are very close to those of our church. I also have the privilege of going into the home of two families in our neighborhood with my youngest son at least once each month. We teach them gospel messages, express our sincere love and help them in every way we can.
