Hi I'm Ron

I am a father of 5 children and a grandfather of 13 grandchildren and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Salt lake City, Utah. At the age of 19, I served a mission for 2 years for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the countries of Holland and Belgium. After returning I baptized my future wife Debbie who had been investigating the church for several years. We have 5 children who are now all married and living in 5 different states. When our youngest daughter was 2 we moved to Beaverton, Oregon where we raised our family. We loved the Northwest very much. We are now "Empty Nesters" living in Gilbert, Arizona and playing a lot of tennis. The weather is great here!

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are immigrants from Holland where they accepted the message of the Restored Gospel from missionaries. After immigrating to the United States, they settled in Salt Lake City, Utah. As a young man, I was taught the gospel by my parents. Even though I grew up in the church, I couldn't really tell if it was true or not. At the age of 16, I took the challenge to earnestly read the Book of Mormon and find out for myself if this book was true. After reading several chapters one day, I decided to ask in prayer if what I had been reading was true. I had a feeling that came over me that I had never felt before. It was a strong peaceful feeling that consumed my entire body. I had received my answer and I knew then that if the Book of Mormon was true, then Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God and Jesus Christ has restored his church in its fulness back to the earth for all of us. We now have two witnesses that testify that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior-The Bible and The Book of Mormon.

How I live my faith

I know I am not perfect, but I try my best to obey all of the Lord's commandments. I try to treat everyone with respect and realize that we are all sons and daughters of our Father in Heaven. There are people that I know that are good friends who are not of our faith who have a deep love for the Savior too and I think that is great. I feel better about myself after I have served and helped others who need it. Because I love and appreciate what our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ has done for all of us, I am very respectful how I use his name in all that I say and do.
