Hi I'm Colleen

I am a wife, mother and grandmother. I am accountant and work in education. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 1/2 American Indian and 1/2 Scottish descent. The Scottish side of the family joined the church in the 1800's and they were some of the first Mormon pioneers that traveled west to Utah. My Native American family are not members of the church but are wonderful, spiritual people. I have enjoyed learning about my native culture. I go to pow wow's and other cultural events in our city.  I have a family whom I love very much. My children are grown and have children of their own. Grandchildren are the best! I enjoy working on my genealogy and my family history. It is fun for me to put together missing pieces of the family puzzle.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because the gospel brings me peace and happiness in my life. I know the purpose of life and the atonement. This helps me in my life when times are rough. I am thankful to know that God is there for everyone and that he loves us all. The gospel has helped me to know how to live my life to the fullest.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by following the commandments of our Heavenly Father. This is a daily way of life. I attend church meetings each Sunday with my family. I also teach Sunday School and work in the Family History Library. In the library I help anyone of any faith begin their genealogy. I enjoy helping everyone who comes into the library.

Are Mormons Christians?

We believe that Jesus Christ is our Savior. He sacrificed his life for us and atoned for our sins. We study the New Testament to learn about the teachings of Christ. We must live our lives as Christ did and follow his teachings. If we accept Christ as our Savior and keep the commandments we will be able to return to live with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I am thankful for this knowledge and that we have records of the life and teachings of Jesus Christ through the scriptures. Show more Show less

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Christ said that we all must have charity towards each other. This not only pertains to people of our own religion but to all people. Our church encourages everyone to help whenever we can. I have helped at our church cannery with people from other religions. We are canning food for the local food bank that helps others in the community. My congregation has helped a women's shelter in our are for many years with yard work, painting, toy and clothing drives. There is many things we can do to help each other. Service shows our love we have one to another. Show more Show less
