Hi I'm Cheryl Udy Hatch

I'm a Mormon. I raised in an inactive Latter-day Saint family, but baptized shortly before marriage. We have raised 6 great kids.

About Me

My husband and I are both retired. I didn't work while raising our children, but afterwords was a Literacy Specialist for San Bernardino County libraries. We love to visit with our 6 children and 28 grandchildren. Four of our grandchildren were born this year. We love to go ATVing with friends. We did that a lot when we lived in Idaho, and were lucky enough to find friends here to go ATVing with. I love to read, need to also get back to doing Family History, which I used to do a lot of in the past. My greatest joy that's right up there with my family is being an ordinance worker at the Mesa Arizona Temple twice a week. I enjoy being a service missionary at the Arizona Training Center. This is a home for those with extreme mental and physical disorders. There are about 75 friends their we work with. Youth from the church from all over the valley come to share the morning with them, just singing, talking and showing them they care. We help make sure everything runs well and visit with our "friends" there as well.It is a wonderful opportunity for all of us and is surprisingly very uplifting.

Why I am a Mormon

I know the Gospel is true and Jesus is my savior. I know and talk to him each day. He guides me and directs me and teaches me the joy in all things. When my children were small, I know I was never alone in raising them. Not only did I have the great support of my husband, but their were Sunday School teachers, primary teachers, young men and young women leaders as well as priesthood and relief society to love and care for our family and be good examples to them. I knew I could always call on the comfort of the Holy Ghost and that he was also my constant companion. We are also blessed with a prophet, which is Thomas S Monson. We do not worship him, nor does he get involved in our personal lives, but he guides and directs the church on the Earth today. I'm also thankful for the scriptures which are like a handbook on how to get the most out of life.

How I live my faith

I have been on several commities in the community, including school pta's, traffic committee, libraries, numerous team mom, and scouting activities. I worked at the Family History Library for years and helped others research their ancestors. I worked with children, youth and adults in many different capacities. I love to teach because I learn so much. I am also a visiting teacher, which gives me many opportunities to serve. Last year a sister, had a premature baby, so we took her son to school every day, so she wouldn't have to take here baby out so early in the morning. We also serve 6 hours a day, two days a week at the Mesa Arizona Temple. We serve as service missionaries at the Arizona Training Center at Randolph on Sunday morning for about 4 hours. As I mentioned before this is for the extremely mental and physically challenged. We are so blessed and learn unconditional love from them.
