Hi I'm William

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love the outdoors, I love camping, and just nature in general, because I have found personaly that is how I have found an appreciation for God, and I think that is one of the ways he shows his love for us. I'm also a bit of a computer geek. I love being on computers because there is so much information available, and such intricate ways to learn, and to interact with others, and to have fun. I am currently serving a mission in the Washington Spokane mission, and I love that. The Gosple of Jesus Christ has done more for me in my life than I can explain to anyone, and I love being able to share it and see other people have the same experience.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised Seventh-Day Adventist. Because of that I was raised with a very stong belief in God and Jesus Christ, and that is something that I will be eternally greatful for. When I was about seven years old my family moved to Milwaukee Wisconsin. After the move, we realized that we did not have a copy of the Bible. It was around Easter time, and the LDS church had commercials on to get a free Bible. We called to get it, and they asked if missionaries could come by to explain more about it, and we accepted their offer. They met with me and my mother, and as they taught us, I had a sence of peace about what they shared. They gave us the Bible, and then started to introduce us to the Book of Mormon. They gave us copies, and asked us to read them and to pray and ask God if what we read was true. I read a little bit, and prayed over some time, and came to know that it really was true. That has been shown to me time and time again as I either have, or have not lived what was taught there, and how as I lived it I was so blessed, and how when I did not, I regreted it every time.

How I live my faith

Well, at the moment I am a missionary helping to share this message with anyone that I can, and I think that that is something that I have found, is that the greatest way to live the gospel is to share the gospel. I have seen as how people work hard to change their lives for the better, God helps them to do that, but it is through the gospel that those changes really happen.

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Everyone is always welcome to attend a church meeting, and we are happy to have visitors. A church service tends to be somewhat low-key. We sing a few hymns and say a few prayers, and we have some talks about topics of the gospel. The talks are just given by normal members of the church who are asked ahead of time, so each sunday there are normally different speakers. There are also some classes that you can attent that are based on age groups that discuss the scriptures, and teach different principles. These classes are also taught by normal members of the church, but they are assigned and tend to be the same person, but it might be different depending on where you live. None of the teachers, and for that matter nobody in the church is payed. Show more Show less

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

The Word of Wisdom is a commandment that our heavenly father has given us to help us to live happier. We avoid tobacco, alcohol, coffee, tea, illegal drugs and other harmful things. This helps us to be healthy, because God loves us and dosent want us to hurt ourselves by misusing these things. They are here for a purpose, but he has commanded us not to take them into our bodies.
