Hi I'm Shelice Allen Millett

I'm a wife & mom of 7 kids. I was AZ Young Mother of the Year and have lobbied at the UN for motherhood and family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the mother of seven children ages 15, 13, 12, 10, 8, 7 and 4. I love the joys and challenges of being a mother. I was the AZ Young Mother of the Year in 2006 and loved having the opportunity to speak out for motherhood and family. I also had the opportunity to lobby at the United Nation for Motherhood and Family. I have very strong feelings about motherhood. I believe that there is no greater opportunity in this life than motherhood and having a family. I feel that the world often sends the message to mothers that they are wasting their life by having children and devoting so much to them. My wish is that mothers everywhere understand the greatness and nobility of motherhood. I hope that mothers everywhere have the opportunity to feel the great fulfillment that motherhood can bring. I know that it is through watching me that my daughters will one day be mothers and my sons will learn to respect and honor the women in the lives. It is a great responsibilty and a great privilege. With my youngest in preschool, I have recently started taking college classes again. I am working on a Bachelors of Science in Human and Family Development and plan to go on to get my Masters in Counseling. It is a slow process as I am choosing to go part time. I currently help my husband run his law office. I work from home and am having a lot of fun working side by side with my husband.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love the Book of Mormon. I have read the Book of Mormon. I have prayed to know if it is true. I was 12 years old when I finished the Book of Mormon for the first time. After I finished the last chapter I knelt to pray and ask Heavenly Father if the Book of Mormon was a true book. I undeniably received the answer that it was. The Book of Mormon brings me peace and understanding and hope that I do not find any any other book. It teaches me of the Savior's love. It teaches me that the Lord will strengthen me through trials and adversity and that He will help me overcome my weaknesses. The Book of Mormon teaches me that my ability to "screw up" will never be greater than the Lord's ability to Redeem me. The Book of Mormon teaches me of the Lord's Grace and Mercy. I am a Mormon because I want to be with my family forever. I believe that through the temple ordinances and by being faithful my family is sealed together forever. I cannot imagine living eternity without my family. I am a Mormon because I need the Lord in my life. I love going to church and being able to worship and feel the Savior's love. Recently, Elder Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles taught that " the Lord loves broken things." This statement moved me. I have known serious financial hardship. I have suffered through severe health issues. I have struggled to overcome weaknesses in my character. I am so grateful for the healing power of the Lord. He has given me strength and hope in my trials. He has given me copmfort and peace - not as the world gives, only as he can give. I am grateful that He loves me and that He desires to heal me and make me whole. I am so very grateful for His ever beckoning call to "Come unto me."

How I live my faith

I am currently working with the 12 and 13 year old girls at our church. We meet for one hour every Sunday and then for an hour in a half on Wednesday evening. I work with three other women and we plan weekly activities. These activities are geared towrd teaching the youth values of faith, divine nature, individual worth, knowledge, choice and accountability, good works, integrity, and virtue. We set goals and It is important to me that each of these girls understand the Lord's love for them. I believe that if they understand the Lord's love for them it can change their lives. If they can truly see their individual worth through His love for them it will help them with self - esteem and other issues. I pick up some of the youth on Sunday and take them to church. I love the girls that I work with. I love that I get to work with my own 12 year old daughter. I also live my faith by supporting my husband as he serves. I believe that I am serving by helping him have the time to serve. I watch him find great joy and fulfillment in serving the Lord.
