Hi I'm Doug

I'm a retired electrical contractor. I am a father of five and a grandfather of twelve and I love them all! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to fly and currently fly a Cessna 210. I enjoy doing things with my family. My wife and I have been happily married for 38 years. We have 5 children and 12 grandchildren. I enjoy musical theater (my daughter has performed in a number of shows). I enjoy watching ballroom dancing (just watching - I have two left feet :-) ). I really enjoy playing intense board games with my sons (and sometimes my wife and daughters). I enjoy traveling with my wife and discovering how many wonderful people and places God has placed on this earth. I have an electrical engineering degree and enjoy keeping my mind active. I am a voracious reader and I just love life!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to wonderful parents who were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. At the age of 8, I choose to be baptized a member of the Church. At the age of 19, I choose to serve a 2 year mission for the Lord in Taiwan. One night, as I was struggling to learn Mandarin Chinese, I found an empty room and poured out my heart to my Heavenly Father. After some time, a feeling came over me that I still remember today. I knew that my Heavenly Father was real and that He was aware of me. I knew that He loved me and that the service I had been called to perform was the right thing to do. I knew that He would help me complete it. That same knowledge and feeling still exists in my soul. I know that Heavenly Father still lives and that He still loves me. What I love most about my Mormon faith is its central focus on the Savior, Jesus Christ. I also love that a major tenet of our religion is that families can be sealed together for eternity. Nothing on this earth is more precious to me than my family and we are striving to make that relationship endure into the eternities. The Gospel of Jesus Christ teaches us how to do that and having living prophets upon the earth today enlightens our path to make that journey safely.

How I live my faith

I live my faith one day at a time. I strive to follow the commandments that Jesus Christ, through His prophets, has given us. I strive to set a good example for my children and my grandchildren. Currently, I serve in the Church in Taiwan. Before, I served as president of a stake of the Church. ( A stake is a geographical area containing more than one congregation of Church members ). Our particular stake contained 10 units (or congregations). I had ecclesiastical responsibility for over 4000 members in those congregations. It was a tremendous responsibility, but was a tremendous blessing in my life. There was no monetary remuneration, but the blessings that my Heavenly Father has bestowed upon me and my family has been priceless. I have been an active supporter of the Boy Scouts of America. I had been an active participate in the electrical contracting association to which we belong to, serving in various positions and on various committees through the years.
