Hi I'm Melody Hokanson

I am unique, Creative and imaginary writer, artist, and thinker. I am a wife and a mother. I am a Mormon!

About Me

I am the 6th child of 11 kids. I grew up in Utah and after meeting my wonderful husband moved to Nebraska to start our work in ranching. I learned a lot and grew from moving away from my family and friends but I enjoy and love the space and beauty that Nebraska has to offer. I love married life and enjoy the opportunity I get to serve and love my husband every day. I am a stay at home mom and enjoy the time I get to spend with my little boy. Times get hard and some days I have to get very creative with what to do with our time, especially where we live out in the middle of no where with our closest neighbors 5 miles away. One of my favorite past time things to do is anything that requires my hands and creativity! I enjoy making people laugh and smile and helping others feel loved.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know the Church of Jesus Christ is true. I know we have a living prophet president Thomas S. Monson on the earth today, who is guides and directs this church through our Heavenly Father. I know the Book Of Mormon to be true. Because every time I read it I learn something new and the spirit touches my heart and tells me it is true. One thing that helps me to know that it is true is the fact that families can be together forever, that there is life after death and that we have a Father in Heaven who loves us and knows who we are. I go to church every Sunday with a form believe that I know this church is true because the Lord has shown by his spirit and the Holey Ghost. Times in my life when I have questioned if it was true I have always come back to the realization that it is true. I feel good about its teachings and the things that go on in the church but most of all I have just gained a testimony for myself because I have searched out the truth found it and applied it to my life and the Lord has sent his spirit testifying to me it is right. Everything about it just feels true and my life has been blessed and I feel I am going in the right direction.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by getting up every day in the morning with a smile on my face knowing that God has given me this day to live and enjoy it with my loved ones and to share the gospel with those around me. I strive to keep the commandments and read and study the gospel to help strengthen that faith that I have, so that I can continuously apply what I learn to my life. When things get ruff and hard I pray and have faith in the Lord that he will help everything be ok and that I can grow and learn from the trials of that day. Being a mother especially test’s and tries my faith everyday. I have to have faith in the Lord and trust in him that he can guide and direct me in helping me raise this joy of a spirit that he has entrusted to me. Sometimes I feel like a failure of a mother and when I get down on my knees and pray everyday he gives me the strength and wisdom that I need to know that I am doing his work and that if I just put my trust in him I cannot fail but that I only succeed in helping build up his kingdom and raising my children so that they know who they are and where they come from. I also serve as the Young Women leader in my little branch. And I love working with the girls and seeing the light of Christ in them and watching as they grow and learn to understand the gospel and come to a better understanding of who they are and what divine gifts God has given each one of them. They are truly Daughters of our Heavenly Father and he loves them as he loves all his children.
