Hi I'm Barbara Manning Porter

I am a widow, I have 6 wonderful children, and I have been a Mormon all of my life.

About Me

I am a daughter, wife, mother, sister, grand daughter, aunt, cousin, and niece. I was born in a tiny town in southern Colorado on a dairy farm. I loved the beautiful little valley that I lived in. As a child my parents moved our family, to Arizona and I attended school, and grew up there. After high school, I attended the University in Flagstaff AZ where I met and married my l husband. We were only married for 32 years, as he died suddenly of heart failure. As a result of his death, I became the president of a family building company and I qualified myself for a building contractor's license and was able to keep the family business in tact. I enjoy being a wife and mother and grandmother. I have 6 beautiful, wonderful children who are all grown and gone from home, and 14 MORE beautiful, wonderful grand children. I love my family and spend lots of time with them. I enjoy being outside, and working in my yard. I like to sew, swim, ski, garden and watch base ball. I am an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon). I have served in the church in many capacities, currently I am serving in the woman's organization of our church.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon, because I believe in Jesus Christ, that he lived and walked the earth. I believe in his divine identity, that he was the Son of God. I believe in his teachings, and in his example. I believe that he loves all the children of the earth, and I believe that he freely gave his life for them , so that we all may live again with our Father in Heaven for eternity. I believe in Joseph Smith, I believe that he talked with God the Father and his Beloved Son. I believe that with divine help, he restored the gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth, that we may have all the blessings of exaltation. I believe that if we are obedient to the teachings of Christ's doctrine, good men can become better. The gospel is my life! I strive each day to govern all that I do, to be in accordance with it's teachings. I not only believe in , but I am grateful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ in my life. I am grateful that I know what I know. I can't imagine living without it.

How I live my faith

I wake up each day, hoping that I can help do what the Savior needs done. I try to serve others, and help them on their way. I am responsible for the teaching of the sisters in our ward. As we meet in church each Sunday, they are taught gospel principles in our women's meetings. It is a fulfilling opportunity to try and help the sisters "Come unto Christ" I am grateful for the many callings that I have had in the church. Each one has strengthened me and made me a better person. Our gospel is simple and wonderful. It is based on the teachings, and example of the Lord Jesus Christ, and I try hard to be an example of a believer of Jesus Christ , so that other may want to know Him, because they knew me.
