Hi I'm Kent

I grew up in Salt Lake City, UT. I live in San Antonio, TX. I am a baker and a banker. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My favorite pastime is riding really powerful, well-suspended motorcycles at the sand dunes. There is nothing like the floating sensation of launching off the top of a dune and then gradually coming back to earth as the dune gently slopes away. Add to that the ability to carve arcs in untouched sand and going on for mile after mile with the ups and downs, the steep faces and gradual slopes of the dunes. The feeling of freedom, acceleration and change are exhilarating. I love exploring on a motorcycle during the daytime. Then comes the nighttime when we can talk around the campfire and look at the sky. I have a fascination with the stars and the vastness of the universe. I can gaze up in wonder and amazement and contemplate how big the universe is. It gives me a feeling for the greatness of God and a glimpse into the eternities. I’ve given up the motorcycles for my family and other responsibilities. I have a wonderful wife and children. Everyone gets along and it is very peaceful living in a family like that.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the Church and it is all I have ever known. I feel lucky that way. My parents raised me, teaching me the gospel, sharing experiences and talking about how to be a good person. I don’t make any claims that way but it is a wonderful, peaceful feeling when you are right with God. I had to know for myself that the path my parents were taking me on in the Church was right so I did my best to live the teachings of Jesus Christ and prayed and asked. I have had quiet assurances through the Holy Spirit that this is the right path. The gospel has given me meaning and peace. I can’t imagine living without the knowledge that I have received. We accept all truth no matter where it is found. I am extremely happy with the knowledge I have of God, Christ and the Holy Ghost, their plan for us, how to get back to them, the meaning and purpose of life and the perspective that gives.

How I live my faith

I read scriptures every day and have done so for the better part of my life. My parents taught me to do that. We read scriptures daily as a family and have gospel discussions. We hold family prayer morning and night whether everyone is there or not. The family always knows we are holding prayers and they are included even if they are away. Our family holds a weekly family night to get together and learn the gospel. We have family meals where we sit down together and talk. We give service to others and take our family members as much as we can in that service so that they learn to enjoy giving of themselves. We don’t quarrel and fight at our home. We teach each other to look out for one another. Brothers and sisters should always know they can count on each other for help and assurance. They are safe with each other. If someone makes a mistake, give them the benefit of the doubt and support them. Everyone is trying to do the best they can. I try to live the gospel because it gives me peace in this life and a hope of a bright future and eternity.
