Hi I'm Mickell

I love music in all of it's forms - singing, playing, dancing. I'm in college studying psychology, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm in my second year of college as a psychology major. I love music, dancing, soccer, hiking, photography, calligraphy, art, snow boarding, adventures, talking, meeting new people, making new friends, keeping old ones, laughing, making others smile, "happily ever afters", stories, performing, atrociously off-key karaoke, service, chick flicks, parties/social gatherings, standards, family, honesty, trust, God, life, happiness.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to be born into a family strong in the gospel and raised in a home where gospel principles were taught. Now that I'm older and living on my own, I have chosen for myself that this is where I need to be. So many times I have prayed, asking for Heavenly Father's help and He was there, and continues to be there for me, through everything. My testimony has grown through many years of block-by-block building. When I was in High School and I realized I needed to stop depending on the testimony of my parents, I made the decision to find out for myself. I started from the most basic of beliefs (Is there a God and does He really care for us?) and worked my way up from there. I would see if I believed in a principle by testing it out and seeing how it affected my life. Once I put my faith in God and tried out a commandment, I began to feel it and then I knew that it was true. In my opinion, this is the best way to build a testimony- just do it!

How I live my faith

It's hard being one of only two members on my campus, but I always strive to live what I believe even when so many around me aren't. Even though I am a lot younger andd a lot less knowledgeable in the scriptures and the gospel in general than the people in my branch (congregation), I was called to teach Sunday School. As I prepare to teach during the week I find myself being taught by Heavenly Father and this learning continues as I actually teach the class. In reality, I'm doing a lot more learning than teaching. Though it was really intimidating at first, I have grown to love teaching and have come to see it as a great blessing in my life.
