Hi I'm Larry

I was searching for a church while in the military. I met a couple of missionaries and have been an active member ever since.

About Me

I discovered and joined this Church while I was in the military. Upon discharge, I served as a missionary in Colorado and New Mexico sharing my testimony of Jesus Christ. After my release, I went to Cuesta College in California and married while there. My wife and I had 6 children and then adopted one more. We love our family very much, but now my grandchildren live too far away. I supported my family for many years as a building repair contractor in California. Now I do a little building repair, but not full time. I am happy in my service in this Church and am so glad I found it early in my life. I strive to follow the teachings of Jesus. I serve my fellow man in all I do, and enjoy it.

Why I am a Mormon

As a youth, I grew up with no church involvement. In high school, attended a protestant Church and in College began in earnest to find the right church for me. I studied many and when in the military, was involved in the chaplaincy program which gave many opportunities to study the religions of many others. One evening, I met a couple of Mormon Missionaries and they told me of Living Prophets in our day. I sincerely prayed to know if that was true, and was given a strong, even overwhelming desire to learn more. The more I learned, the more their message rang true, so I joined the church. Over the years, I have experienced hundreds of events that deepen my knowledge that this is the true Church of Jesus Christ. Doubt has gone and has been replaced with knowledge given of the Holy Ghost.

How I live my faith

The teachings of Christ have become my guide for my life. We taught our family of Jesus' teachings by word and by example. When we make mistakes, we apply the atonement of Christ and receive forgiveness. When we have opportunities, we share with others our love of our Savior. We don't push our religion, but I love to talk about the Savior and how he restored the gospel in the Latter Days. We have living prophets on earth today and read and listen to their counsel on a regular basis. There is a love of life, security and peace of mind that go along with having the fullness of Christs teachings in your home and in your life. I enjoy serving in the community, both in and out of the Church. I am active in our local Lions Club and also active in our regional Church. In my Church assignment, I travel to other congregations, working with the leaders and with the members to better understand the church and the teachings of Jesus. I enjoy this very much. My wife of 40+ years travels with me and we enjoy this time to be together. I am also active politically, bringing my love for the teachings of Jesus to those who make our laws. I am very pro-life and pro-Christian and am making every effort to elect those who believe likewise, whatever church they attend. I support the Constitution of the United States and put my efforts into its maintenance. In general, I love my family, I live the ten commandments, love my Savior, Jesus Christ and enjoy life.

Why do you have 12 Apostles? They were just meant to be around for the time of Jesus Christ, not to be replaced with new apostles.

When the Lord restored His Church in +/- 1830, He told the Prophet, Joseph Smith that they were needed and gave him direction on how the Church should be organized. Show more Show less
