Hi I'm Shirley

I'm a Mom, a Wife, a quilter, a wanna-Grandmother, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a busy mom to four wonderful children, two are married and two are teenagers living at home. I have been blessed to have a husband (24 years and counting) who supports me in everything I choose to do. After working full time to help him through school I've had the privilege of being a stay at home home mom for the last 20 years and I love it. I love to read and when i get a moment I dig into biographies and historical fiction. My favorite hobby is quilting and I could spend hours and hours planning, shopping, cutting and sewing.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a home where my parents taught us to live the "Mormon" lifestyle. My parents are both converts to the church who knew that by living the teachings of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints they would make a better life for their children than the one they had. I will always be grateful to the missionaries that sacrificed to serve a mission and teach my parents the gospel. I was always taught that I needed to know for myself if I believed the church was true. I have prayed to my Heavenly Father and asked about the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and received a confirmation in my heart that let me know without a doubt that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. I'm so thankful for a loving Heavenly Father who has a plan for us to return to him and to live with our families forever. I'm grateful for the atonement of Jesus Christ and the opportunity I have to repent of my mistakes (and they are many) and to keep trying to became a better person.

How I live my faith

I attend church meetings every Sunday and accept callings to serve when asked. I currently work with the women in my ward and my greatest desire is for them to know how much our Heavenly Father loves them and wants them to be happy. I try every day to follow my Saviors example to love and serve those around me. I'm trying to teach my children to remember that they are children of our Heavenly Father and that he loves them. We read the scripture together as a family and pray together daily. We are not perfect but we are doing our best.
