Hi I'm Michelle

I am a wife and mother - the most infuential jobs in the world. I love to read, cook and create things. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom to two great boys, stepmom to two amazing young women, and step-grandma to an adorable toddler. I am a college graduate, and worked for almost 10 years as a court reporter. I was 35 when I married, and stopped working to be a full-time wife and step-mom. I love being a homemaker - making our home a desirable place to be for each member of our family - immediate and extended. The best times are when our home is filled with family, friends, and laughter.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a fifth generation member of the Church. Some might think I'm a Mormon because I was born into it, but being a Mormon is a full-time commitment. If I did not have a testimony of Jesus Christ and know that this is His church, I could not remain an active member. When I was about 7 or 8 years old, we were visiting my grandparents' ranch in the mountains of New Mexico. Being young, I was put to bed while the adults still visited in the other room. From my bed I could gaze out the window at the stars filling the dark sky of the mountains, and listen to the happy voices of my family coming from the other room. I recall looking at those stars, the vastness of the night sky, and suddenly feeling insignificant - only a young girl in an entire universe. Just as quickly as those feelings of fear come over me, a sweet feeling of calmness and warmth spread through my small body. At that moment I knew I had a Heavenly Father. I was a child of God. He loved me. I was an important person to him. It was the beginning of my testimony that Heavenly Father lives. Jesus Christ lives. I am a member of His Church on the earth. I love the scriptures. I have read the Book of Mormon several times. I have prayed about it and know it to be another testament of Jesus Christ. I have prayed about many things through my life. I know the Lord always hears my prayers. I am important to Him. Sometimes the answer to prayers is "yes" and sometimes it is "no". He knows me; He knows what is best for me. He will not take away all difficulties from my life - that would not enable me to grow. But He is always there. I know He will support and love me no matter what. That's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by teaching my children that they have a loving Heavenly Father who has a plan for them. I help others around me when I see a need that I can fulfill. I teach others about the gospel of Jesus Christ in Sunday School. I have had the opportunity to teach others - children, youth and adults through the years, helped in leadership positions to run children's and women's organizations, and stretched my musical abilities to provide piano accompaniment for hymns. The emphasis on service that I have learned through being active in church has spurred me to volunteer to offer my time at my children's schools to help in the classrooms or with school events and fundraising. I have also volunteered to help in my neighborhood with homeowner's associations. The Church has provided leadership training that I have used in church and my community.
