Hi I'm Sara

I'm a Teacher. I'm a Mom. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I grew up in rural Idaho in a family of 10. As a child I spent most of my time outside playing, swimming in the creek, or working in the garden. I have always loved being in the outdoors whether it be hiking, camping, watching the stars, or taking a stroll down the street. I am an Earth Science high school teacher and love teaching student about the amazing world we live in, but currently I have an even better job...being a full time mom. I'm married to my best friend and have 3 great kids that keep me very busy. In my spare time I enjoy playing the piano, singing, quilting, and a good mind teasing puzzle that makes me think.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon my entire life and am so grateful to have the blessing of the restored gospel to guide me. There have been many times when I have wondered why things have happened to me and if my Father in Heaven and Savior knew of me and the trials that I faced. However, with each trial and challenge that has come, I have been able to turn to them in prayer and they have never left me alone. There is a plan for each of us and it is not just to simply BE, but it is to BECOME all that our Father in Heaven has in store for us. He loves me and every one of His children and has prepared a way for us to return and live with him and our families forever. I have personally felt his arms around me as trials have come and know that through the atonement of my Savior, Jesus Christ, I can over come them. I have asked in prayer to know of the truthfulness of His restored gospel and know that it is the Lords church and that he leads and guides it.

How I live my faith

As a mother I strive to teach my children right from wrong every day. I teach them that they can rely on their Heavenly Father and ask him for help. There is a peace and comfort that comes when we are following the Lord's commandments and His Spirit can dwell in our home and we can feel of his love. Those same principles cross over into all aspects of my life. I am lucky enough to serve the young women in our ward, ages 12-18. They are beautiful daughters of God and He loves them very much. We meet on Sundays and learn about our Savior and Heavenly Father. Then on Tuesday evenings we meet and reinforce those principles in activities that the girls help plan. Sometimes it's a fun activity, a service project, or learning a skill, but it always teaches the youth about our Savior and the plan that he has for each of us. There are so many ways to serve each other and the joy that comes from that service is amazing.

What is the Relief Society?

The Relief Society is an incredible organization within the the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Together the women of the Church work to help one another and everyone around them. There is a special bond that forms as we put the needs of other in front of our own and the love that grows from that service is indescribable. The Lord loves his daughters and has organized the Relief Society to be a strength to them and their families, to care for those in need, and enrich their lives in a very personal way.
