Hi I'm Nancy

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a grandmother, which is my favorite title. Visiting our children and grandchildren is always the highlight of our year. My husband and I love living in Arizona, but it has really been hot this summer. One of my favortie things to do is travel. This summer I returned to Europe for the fourth time. My sisters and I travel to the countries where our ancestors lived. This year we went to Germany, just east of Hamburg, Copenhagen, and Sweden. Our grandmother came to America from Sweden in the early 1900's. We have been able to see where she lived in central and north-central Sweden. I travel with my sisters and in 2006 when our mom came with us we went to England and Bern, Switzerland. We've had many spiritual experiences inside the European churches and inside our LDS temples feeling that our ancestors are there with us. I am a piano teacher and I love people of all ages. Music is a great part of my life. I also like to swim. I swim in an outdoor pool and in Arizona you can do that almost every day of the year.

Why I am a Mormon

I love knowing that I am a daughter of God and that He loves me and that He also loves every one of His children. When I was eight years old I was baptized and I remember the incredible feeling of joy that was in my heart, even at that young age. As I have studied and prayed about the truths our Church offers, I have an even stronger testimony of God the Father and Jesus Christ. I love this Church because we are led by a true prophet of God, Thomas S. Monson. He is full of love for everyone. He has the true authority from Jesus Christ to carry forth God's work here on earth. We have other priesthood leaders who lead with the Spirit. I have a true knowledge that Joseph Smith saw the Father and the Son. He translated the Book of Mormon and it is such a powerful witness of Jesus Christ. I love the scriptures. I read them every day. I am so thankful that I can fast and pray to receive help in my every-day life. I believe and know that prayer is real and that as we pray for others, our prayers will be heard and answered. Through being a member of this Church, I have had many, many opportunities to give service. We take care of each other and we reach out to our neighbors and friends of other faiths. Through serving others I have felt closer to my Father in Heaven. My dad died in March of 2010 and I am so thankful that I KNOW is is living in heaven and that he is very happy and also serving in Paradise. Many times I have felt "my" angels surrounding and protecting me. There is life after death, I am positive of that.

How I live my faith

I have the joy of teaching Special Needs young adults every Thursday night. This year we are going to study the New Testament. It is a joy to see these adults truly grasp the concepts of the Gospel and develop testimonies of Jesus Christ. My husband and I served for two years in a Young Adult Singles ward. We LOVED being with the 18-31 years olds. They are such great examples of love and service. We have a 27-year-old daughter who is single and we love having her and her friends come over to our house. Presently I am serving the women in our ward. It is amazing to see how each of them reaches out to others. We have sisters in our ward with very serious health conditions and others who have lost loved ones (including children.) We all bond closely together as we pray for and serve each other. Every Christmas my husband and I have fun hosting a neighborhood Christmas party. We invite everyone on our street plus others we know in the neighborhood. We have a "talent show" so that our neighbors can hear and see some of the talented people in our neighborhood. Usually several of my piano students play, plus we have some incredible female vocalists that share their talents. We haven't talked any men into performing yet, but it could happen.
