Hi I'm Roger

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in a small town in Pa. I am retired after 45 years in the computer field including 3 yrs in the Army.

About Me

I grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania. As a youth, I played basketball and was captain of our American Legion Baseball Team. After high school I attended and graduated from Pierce Business School, majoring in Accounting. My first job was payroll clerk in Philadelphia. After 6 months on this job, I decided to enlist in the Army for 3 years. I later moved to Arizona and graduated from Arizona State University. I worked for 40 years as a computer programmer, supervisor and manager in an information systems department. I am now retired and work on my ½ acre citrus farm. My wife and I raised 5 children and have 14 grandchildren. We currently help care for our daughter and her three children.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I wanted to believe the Joseph Smith Story. And I nourshed that belief with Faith, Prayer and Study and received the conformation and witness of the Holy Spirit. That he saw God the Father and his Son, Jesus Christ; that is some fantastic story. That God looks like you and I and has a physical body. But it says in the Bible, in the Book of Genesis, that man is created in the image of God. The Mormon Church is about the Living God and his son the Living Jesus Christ. It is about the Church of Jesus Christ that he established when he lived upon the Earth during his ministery with Apostles. I am a Mormon because it teaches that man is created in the image and likeness of God as the Bible states, and that God is the Father of our Spirits. Christ called as his apostles not the current ruling religious leaders but he called the regular working man and gave them priesthood by the laying on of hands to do his work. I am a Mormon because this church restored my faith and love in Jesus Christ. The Bible and the Book of Mormon are scripture and testify of our Savior, Jesus Christ and his atonement. Christ’s Church and Kingdom of God has been restored to the Earth to prepare us for his second coming. The Priesthood authority to perform sacred ordinances such as Baptism and the conferral of the Holy Ghost are once again on the Earth. This priesthood authority was restored at the direction of Jesus Christ. He sent heavenly messengers John the Baptist and Peter, James and John to restored the Aaronic and Melchizedek Priesthoods. With this priesthood authority, his Church and Kingdom are now on the Earth today. I have been an active member in the Mormon Church for over 40 years now and testify to the you that Jesus is the Christ and has restored his Church once again on the Earth to bless the lives of both the Living and the Dead.

How I live my faith

I joined the Mormon Chuch when I was 25 years old. I am now 70 years old. The Church is a service organization to help people live the Gospel of Jesus Christ and follow his example by showing love for God and all of his children through service. I have served in many capacities and activities in the Church and Community such as, cub master, scoutmaster, served in the prison ministery, served in the spirtual hospital ministery giving priesthood blessings, Took spirtual message mothly as a Home Teacher to various families, President of the Young Mens Priesthood Group, served as Ward financial clerk and Stake Presidency executive secretary. I new when I joined this chuch, that I would have opportunities to serve. The Lord has blessed me and my family through the many activities that I have been able to participate in.
