Hi I'm Doug King

I am a Convert who joined the Church when I was 10 years old. I was born and raised in Arizona and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for 24 years and my wife and I have 4 children. My hobbies are anything that deals with being outdoors like hiking, swimming or playing golf. I have been a High School and College Referee for 26 years officiating high school basketball, football, volleyball and college basketball. My wife and I love to travel and recently we have become certified scuba divers. We have been able to scuba dive in Hawaii and Cancun, Mexico.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 10 years old a childhood friend invited me to attend the LDS Church and to attend Cub Scouts with him. After attending several weeks I wanted to learn more about the Principles of the Gospel and why he and his family were so happy and different than mine. I was given permission by my parents to have the LDS Missionaries teach me in my home. After having all the discussions taught to me I was challanged to pray and ask God if the teaching that were presented to me were true. Heavenly Father answered my prayers and my parents gave me permission to be Baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It was one of the greatest decisions I have ever made. Since joining the Church I have had an opportunity to serve a Mission, be Married in the Temple for Time and all Eternity and have a family. My Testimony and Faith in Jesus Christ have grown as I have served and continued to follow the Gospel principles that teach individuals to serve, love and give as Jesus Christ did. The Saviour is the center part of the teaching of the LDS Church, He is our example and He leads and guides the members thru a Prophet that is on the earth today. Without Jesus Christ we have nothing, we would have no one to follow, no one to pattern our lives after and no one to look to for forgiveness. I testify He Lives and Loves Us. He wants us to be happy in this life and the greatest hapiness we can have is by following Him and serving Him.

How I live my faith

Everyday I have the opportunity to serve others in and out of the Church. In today's World there is great need for individuals to live a set values and exercise faith that will increase one's Faith in God and in Jesus Christ. I have had many opportunities in in serving in the Church and to be associated in working with the youth. I have participated in the Boy Scout program, working with young men in helping them achieve merit badges and ranks leading them to becoming an Eagle Scout. The greatest part of working with young men and young women is watching them grow and develop as they become young adults knowing that they will make proper decisions because they have been taught correct principals and they will apply those principals as an adult, a Husband or Wife and as a Father or Mother. The youth of the World are our future and having the opportunity to be associated with them has strengthened my faith.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Doug King
The Family is the most important unit in the Mormon Faith. Everything starts and ends with the family. God has blessed his children on the earth with the opportunity to have children. He trusts that we will love, teach and provide for them while in our care. We believe that a family can be together forever, meaning not only being a family here while on earth but also having the opportunity to be together and live with God forever if we are faithful.
