Hi I'm Pat

I grew up in Buffalo, New York. I'm an engineer. I served a mission in Peru. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love hiking and camping and spending time outdoors, spending time with my family, working around our house, and serving in the Church. I've been happily married for over 30 years and we have 4 children and soon to have 8 grandchildren. I grew up in western New York but now live in California. I served a mission for the Church in Peru. I loved the nearly 2 years I spent there. I love reading and studying history and biographies of great people.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because a friend of my father shared her testimony with him at work and asked him if he would like to know more about the "Mormons." Our whole family joined the Church when I was ten. I slowly developed my own testimony of the truthfulness of the restored gospel. I had not planned on serving a mission for our Church but had a great experience that helped me know I needed to serve. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life and changed my life. While on my mission my testimony became solid as I served our Heavenly Father. It has never wavered since that time but has only grown stronger the more I serve in various capacities in the Church. This has blessed me as well as my family. I know the Book of Mormon is true and was translated by the gift and power of God. I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet and that we have a living prophet today. I am so grateful for the restored gospel and the knowledge of the plan of salvation. I am grateful that the fullness of priesthood power has been restored to the earth so that I can be sealed for time and all eternity to my beautiful wife, children, and my ancestors and posterity. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and died for me and atone for my sins. I know He loves me and wants all of us to return to live with Him and Heavenly Father for eternity.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by serving faithfully and diligently in whatever calling or assignment I am asked to fulfill. Years ago I served as a bishop for over 5 years and my wife has also served in significant callings in our Church. This assignment required me to serve about 20 hours or more a week in addition to my full time job. But it was a great time. I have also served several times as a Scoutmaster and loved working in the Scouting program. I enjoy my responsibility as a home teacher to visit members of our ward and encourage them and help them in whatever way I can. It's amazing to see how much quiet service is rendered daily and weekly by members of the many wards we have lived in over the years. No matter where we have lived, we have been able to serve and be blessed by doing so. I try to read my scriptures daily and pray to get through each day. I try to listen and follow the counsel of our prophet and apostles. I don't always do enough in my callings or as counseled by the prophet. But I try to meet those who are new in our ward and those who seem to be alone. In my current assignment I work with both the young men and young women of our congregation. They are wonderful youth and they give me hope of the rising generation.
