Hi I'm Doug

I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. I love skiing, the outdoors and my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a happily married father of four. I enjoy spending time with my wife and children, especially outdoors in the beautiful Northwest. I like to ski and hope to be able to teach my children to ski someday. I really enjoy my job and the people I work with, but I think my time is always best spend with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

Many times throughout my life various people have made a comment such as "you're Mormon because you were born into a Mormon family" or "its easy for you to accept and live your religion because you were taught to do so as a child". It is true that my parents did teach me about Jesus Christ and I attended church since my childhood. But I honestly believe that I am an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I have been able to develop a personal relationship with my Savior. This relationship with Jesus Christ has come through many years of sincere prayer and a desire to know who He is. I have felt the love of my Savior many times throughout my life and I hope that my children will also come to know Him and feel his love too.

How I live my faith

I believe the most important things that I can do to show my faith in Jesus Christ is to be a good husband and father. The Savior teaches us to love one another and I think the best place to start is to love those closest to me. In the church we strive to live the commandments given in the scriptures and from modern day prophets. It is not easy to be obedient to all of the commandments. I have heard some of my friends, who are not members of the church, complain about Mormons who have made mistakes or who are not trying to live their faith. One of the beautiful things about the gospel of Jesus Christ is that we are not expected to be perfect and that our Savior's mission is to help us keep His commandments and forgive us when we make mistakes. I am thankful to have a loving Heavenly Father who is patient with me as I continually strive to improve my life and be the person He wants me to be.
