Hi I'm Brian

Enjoy building projects and figuring out how things work. Love music and movies. Avid gamer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a husband and soon-to-be father to my first child, which is exciting and yet very nerve-racking. We purchased our first home back in April of 2009 and have found out that owning a home is a lot more work then it seems. To my advantage I love to work with my hands and do new projects. Some of my home improvement projects have been as simple as installing new shelving (because you can never have enough), and building a planter for my family's garden. More advanced and time-consuming projects included setting up and installing my home theater and distributed audio system. I love HIFI and I can only blame my work for that. I also enjoy working on cars and doing my own car maintenance. I like playing baseball and going mountain biking with my wife. As I have aged my amount of gaming hours has drastically decreased, but I enjoy playing party games with friends and family, as well as playing RPGs, platform, and adventure games (my favorite right now).

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up without a faith or church that I went to. I always believed in there being a greater power in the universe and that life had to have more meaning than we are born and then we die. When I was 18 my girlfriend and I had been dating for about 2 months when she told me that there was a very important part of her life that she needs me to know about, this was the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. So I came to church with her and had my first introduction to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and his Church. For the first time in my life I found the answers to my questions dealing with life and why we are here. The Gospel has been the greatest benefit to my happiness in life and has given me strength to overcome problems and trials that are presented to me. Life is a journey full of unexpected turns and it is comforting to know that God is up there and willing to help me along my path toward returning to him.

How I live my faith

Each Sunday I attend church, where I can strengthen my faith, learn more about God and Jesus Christ, and talk about different ways to better myself and become more like Jesus. During the week, I serve in Cub Scouts where I am one of the teachers over the Webelos; this is a fun calling being able to teach the boys new skills for life. Before being called into Scouts, my wife and I co-taught the 5-6 year olds for 2 1/2 years. This was a wondering opportunity, and it was amazing to see the development of faith and learning that occurred in each one of our kids during the course of time that we were able to teach them. At work I live the standards of the church, which has changed how people act around me. For example, people avoid using language or apologize if they do, and I'm not asked to do activities that they know I would be uncomfortable with. In my work environment there are many times when it is hard to be Christ-like but I'm trying my best to be uplifting and positive even when inside I'm not. When things go wrong and I find myself in a difficult situation at work, home, or anywhere, I know I can turn to God in prayer to give me knowledge and strength.
