Hi I'm Richard

I lived in Utah, Oregon and Washington. I have worked hard all my life, I have a wonderful family, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I married a lovely women and worked as a restaurant manager for several years. That just didn't work out. So with a wife and three children to take care of I went back to college and worked full time. I worked in many different jobs during those college years, I helped professors do experiments, I was a janitor, I even spent time issuing Locks, socks and Jocks in the athletic department. My wife also earned money by doing child care in the home so we could make ends meet, I earned my degree in Chemical Engineering. I built my own home, I love to work with wood. I am an amateur gardner and welder. I like to fish, go crabbing, and to hike. We had five children, 4 girls and one boy. We have seven grandchildren and counting. Since all of the kids are out of the house we like to travel and spend time visiting historical sites and seeing places where our ancestors lived. Genealogy seems to be a growing hobby of ours that we can do together.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon home. My parents, my grandparents and all my great grandparents were all members of the church. I served a mission of the church which was difficult, but well worth it. I continue to be an active member of the church because I know its what is right for me. I have spent many years working with our youth, helping the young men to be good scouts, good leaders that are honest, and good men that are wonderful to be associated with. If it wasn't for my commitment to the church and my desire to live a life I believe in, I don't think my life would be anything nearly as enjoyable to what I enjoy today. I know that the LDS church is led by a living Prophet and I am grateful to have a knowledge and faith in Jesus Christ my savior, who is the Lord over all the earth. Yes, I am a christian.

How I live my faith

I have served in many jobs in the church over the years. I have taught the youth as a boy scout leader, I have taught the adults in sunday school. Here in our town we help at the local community center preparing food for the poor and elderly so they can eat a nice sunday lunch. I have served many hours at the Deseret Industries sorting through donations so that quality items can be sent to third world countries and to help disaster victims all over the world. We have had our own disaster in our community a few years back, there were many helping hands to lift others out of depression.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

The bible is holy scripture that was preserved and written for all people's benefit by prophets of God. Since God speaks to all his children there are more scriptures to be read and studied. The Book of Mormon is such a scripture. It too is the word of God. Show more Show less
