Hi I'm Matthew B. Durfee

I ran the Boston Marathon in '94 and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town just outside of Wolfeboro NH. As a youth I wanted to join the football team, but when i got there i realized how small I was. I ended up turning around and never going back. I decided to run x-country instead. That decision has led me to do things that I would of never thought I could do. After running my first Marathon in St. George Utah with a time of 2:52, I qualified to run the Boston Marathon in '94. I've run 9 Marathon's since that time. I like to run and I'm a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

Life is full of challenges and it's how we overcome our challenges that make us who we are. I'm grateful for the LDS church for giving me structure to know that even though I'm not perfect, with my Heavenly Brother's help, I can improve myself to become like him one day. I have a beautiful Wife and a daughter who turns 1 this month that remind me how important family is. I love the church and what it teaches and I'm striving to live up to the high standards that the church teaches. The Gospel of Jesus christ is found in this church and I know it with all my heart. "If ye seek then ye shall find". The answers that one could have about life, are found within the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints. Come see for yourself.

How I live my faith

Being a member has allowed me to work with some great people. For the last 16 months, my wife and I have been on the San Tan Indian Reservation serving in several capacities. I love the hymn "I will go where you want me to go dear lord". This has been the moto of my life. To never turn down a calling even though I don't think i can do it, cause God knows me better than I know myself. I like going to church because it's my extended family and I know that God and Jesus Christ are guiding my efforts.

In whom should we have faith?
