Hi I'm Bethany Baldwin

I'm a software tester, a mother, an animal lover and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a software professional. I'm married and have two beautiful daughters. I was baptised in October 2010. I attended college at The Evergreen State College in WA State. I'm an only child, and was born in Seattle. My parents and I lived in the Philadelphia area for a while prior to moving 'home' for college. While I loved the people I befriended on the East coast, I'm happy to be back in the beautiful rainy Pacific Northwest. Yes...I love rain! I love animals, and have a menagre of pets in my home (dogs, cats, lizards, fish...love them all!)

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a non-religious home. I never really felt like I was missing anything until I had children and felt like there was something more I needed to be teaching them, but didn't quite know what I was missing. I had spoken to the Missionaries a few times, but never was ready to take their message. My husband and I were searching for a church that 'fit'. We had attended services at a few of the local churches, but never really felt at home in any of them. We called the missionaries, not really sure what to expect. We had a wonderful meeting with them, and decided to attend that Sunday's meetings. It was not long after we decided we were ready to be baptized. We had found our home. You may hear Mormons refer to their Ward Family. I see more every Sunday, and at every church meeting or activity throughout the week. The people we attend church with are not just people we see on Sunday, they are an extension of our Family. They take care of each other, they genuinely care about each other, and continue to show it each and every day. There are many things that factored into my conversion to be a Mormon. One is continued revelation. God did not stop speaking to His people at the end of the New Testament. There are living profits on the Earth today. Another is Eternal Families. We can be together for all time and eternity with the people we love. How wonderful is that?! One more, our faith is not over when services end on Sunday. There are activities and chances for active participation throughout the week. It's important to stay active, as a constant reminder of how to follow the right path.

How I live my faith

I try to participate in as many church sponsored activities as makes sense for balancing my work and family life. My husband and I very much enjoy participating in the potluck events that are usually about once a month. It's fun to get together with our ward and visit on a more social level. We try to participate in Family Home Evening every Monday night in our home. It's our night to set aside during each week where we can really dig in and talk about what we learned in church the day before. We have found that we have some very great discussions around spirituality and the gospel principles during this time.
