Hi I'm Joey

I like playing and listening to music. I love making people smile and laugh. I love learning new things. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hey there! My name is Joey and I'm the youngest of four siblings. Family is one of the most important thing in my entire life. I graduated from high school in Arizona, but I've lived all over the place. My family has lived in Texas, Utah, California, Arizona. My family is currently living in Iowa, but I am a missionary in the Las Vegas Nevada area. I'm the huge loud guy in the back of the band with the tuba who is cheering way louder than everybody else for the football team.. I just looooove playing and listening to music. I'm also trying to widen my horizons by learning piano. I am an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. I love making others laugh and feel happy while they are around me. Anatomy and physiology interest me a lot and I hope to be able to be a doctor someday, but who knows what the future holds? I just try to do my best. I've been accepted to Brigham Young University and I am planning on going there as soon as I have completed my mission in 2015.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a Mormon means a great deal to me. It makes me want to become a better person. There's a special kind of peace and comfort in this religion that I've never been able to find anywhere in the world. There's also a lot of hope that I feel because of the pathway there is for those who aren't perfect. Because I am most definitely not perfect! I'm not one who likes to be blindly led into something. I have to have a purpose and meaning behind everything I do. So, I think the biggest reason I'm a Mormon is because I've tried it. I have spent (and spend) a lot of time trying to figure out everyone's ideas about life. How it should be lived and the purpose for it. Since I've put my beliefs into practice, I've had such greater depth in my life. It's something I can't quite describe in words, but I believe its something that can be felt by all. I believe in Jesus Christ as my Savior and all things in Mormonism point to Him. He is my example for all things that I do. I try to live up to his expectations and be like him. I know that there is no other way to be saved except through Him.

How I live my faith

I believe a lot like James when he says that "faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone." (James 2:17) I think that being a Mormon and a follower of Christ is an action that I must do and not just words being spoken. When I am going about my day, I try to be the best person I can be. I use Jesus Christ as my example. Each day that Jesus lived was one selfless act of charity after another. He taught us how to live by his words, as well as his actions. I'm not perfect, but I am trying to be better every day. I try my best to make everyone around me feel happy and important. I believe that everyone is a child of God and should be treated with love and respect. Whenever I'm feeling down, I remember that God loves me and that there is hope for me.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Mormon missionaries are full-time teachers for their church. The biggest thing that they will do is discuss some of the basic things that we as Mormons believe. They teach about Jesus Christ. They help answer some questions such as "Where do I come from?", "Why am I here?", and "Where am I going?" I have never met a missionary who was not a loving and fun person to be around. Who is the Mormon prophet today?

There is a prophet today who tells God's children what God wants them to do in the same way prophets such as Moses, Noah, and Isaiah did in the Old Testament. We are blessed by God to have a prophet today who leads us to become closer to Jesus Christ. His name is Thomas S. Monson. He is a wonderfully loving person who has a smile on his face every time he talks. What he talks about always leads me to become a better person. Show more Show less
