Hi I'm Richie

I'm a software developer. I grew up in Arizona. I'm an avid soccer fan and player. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a computer science student right now. I've grown up playing competitive sports, especially basketball and soccer. I love music - mostly alternative/underground and hip hop. Some of my favorite artists are The Format, Sherwood, RJD2 and Anberlin.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I grew up a member of the church, I didn't always believe and accept it wholeheartedly. It wasn't until I had left home and started trying to do things my way that I realized that I needed a strong foundation or I wasn't going to get very far at all. I found that some of the constraining things I had believed before about the church weren't actually true - like how I had to be perfect on my own, how I had to be only mainly interested in church things and reading scriptures, like I couldn't listen to any music besides church or classical or I would be sinning in some way, etc. In fact, discovering the truth about those things is what really changed my mind. I found that not only was God ok with me being different/unique, He WANTED me to be that way. And even though there's still music out there that isn't exactly uplifting, there's still enough really good music out there that's still acceptable. I love being a Mormon because I can still have my individuality without having to sacrifice any of my standards. And I feel free, because I know the truth about life and I can find answers to all of my questions because God still talks to His children today. Usually not in a big, lightning bolt type way, but with a gentle whisper.

How I live my faith

I try to be the change I want to see in the world.
