Hi I'm Rose.

I go to school at BYU - Idaho. I work at Walt Disney World. I love experiencing life. And I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I lived in Oregon until shortly after I graduated from high school. I'm currently a student at BYU - Idaho. When I'm not in school I enjoy moving around and meeting new people. I'm currently employed at Walt Disney World. I love the outdoors. I love camping, and and hiking, and white water rafting, and everything else I can get my hands on. I enjoy the feeling I get when I conquer a goal. I recently completed my first half marathon and it was amazing! I also love learning. When I get bored I tend to watch documentaries on Netflix until something sparks an interest in a specific topic and then I try to learn what I can on that subject. I'm kind of a nerd like that. I play the flute. I love music and I love doing artsy projects as well.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a Christian. The weekend before I started high school I was baptized into a Baptist church. The church I was going to taught a lot of negative things about the LDS church and I believed every bit of it without looking for factual information. I used to try and debate with my friends in middle school and high school that were mormon, but they were patient with me and endured my arguments. My senior year of high school I was over at a friend's house and the missionaries were out tracting. I was laying out in the front yard when I saw them coming and I went to run inside. I had this irrational fear of the missionaries and was about to shut the door and ignore them when I remember my friend was a mormon. So I yelled upstairs for her. The missionaries tried to say that they were just new to the area and were out meeting everyone, but in my mind I wasn't a part of their church so I told them that they didn't want to talk to me. My friend came down and talked to them for a little bit and then introduced me to them. The missionaries were really nice and my friend asked me if I was interested in debating with them. I said "sure" and they set up my first missionary lesson. I took the discussions and went to Mutual on Wednesday nights. I still had my reservations, but I started looking at mormonism through a new perspective. I was at a youth conference and I decided to read and pray about the Book of Mormon. I started crying as I knew it was true. On the ride home I thought a lot about this experience. I was baptized in October of 2009.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by sharing it with others. I'm willing to answer people's questions when they ask me, and when I don't know the answer I can usually find someone who does. I also like to help people both in my church and out in my community. Service can be huge projects, but it can also be simple, sometimes unnoticeable acts of kindness that help others.

How can I find someone to talk with, in person, about the Mormon religion?

There are so many people that would love to talk with you about the mormon church! You can talk to any member of our church that you know, or you can find a mormon church and meet us. We love sharing what we believe with others! We have people that go out as missionaries to teach others what we believe. If you can find missionaries they can also talk with you about our religion. Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

Self-reliance is so important because it helps us to be prepared for emergencies. This year alone there have been so many natural disasters leaving people without clean clothes, food, and water. By being prepared we can avoid being without basic necessities and we can serve others that are in need of our help. Show more Show less
