Hi I'm Amanda

I am an English major, a lover of travel, a sister, daughter, friend, a future full-time missionary, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Being a Mormon is one of the most important things to know about me because my faith has influenced almost every major decision in my life. My faith isn't the only thing to know about me though because every person in the Mormon faith is still very unique! I love to learn and have been studying English for the last three years. I love my major and am excited to put it to use soon! I am not sure which career I want to pursue yet, but I know my major is right for me! I love traveling and am very passionate about seeing new cultures; I have traveled a fair amount within the United States and this year I went abroad for the first time! I have loved every place I have gotten to see so far, and traveling is something I hope I can keep doing throughout my life. I made a goal this year to travel to all six of the seven continents before I am thirty! I really enjoy making new friends and talking with new people; I am pretty outgoing and that has been such a blessing in my life because it has allowed me to meet a lot of amazing friends. Spending time with people and getting to know them better is one of my very favorite things to do. Some of my favorite people in my life are my family, and I am so blessed to consider my siblings and parents dear friends. I really enjoy watching movies, playing team sports, reading, and being outdoors! I love being a Mormon and I think it has helped me develop a lot of other aspects of my character and personality really well!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because nothing else I have ever done in my life has brought me more joy and peace than living the principles of this gospel. Learning about Jesus Christ and His plan for us has helped me learn that I have a purpose in my life. Learning what that purpose is and then trying to live up to it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. The love that the church shows me and my family is remarkable, and I can feel the love these people have for their Savior in the way they try and emulate His love in their lives. A Love of Jesus Christ is what motivates this gospel. That love is something I can feel in my life when I try and stay true to the Church and that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith in everything I do in my daily routine; when I talk to people, go to work, study for school, watch TV, listen to music, choose an outfit, or basically anything else you can think of, I try to let my belief in Jesus Christ guide what I do. I am still a normal person, but I choose to think about who I am and let my understanding of the answer to that question guide my choices. My choices in Social Media, friends, and everything else I do subtly reflect what I believe in. Another big way I live my faith is by serving in my local congregation. I attend a Young Single Adult Ward, which is a congregation of the Mormon church specifically for people between the ages of 18 and 30. We do everything a normal congregation- called a Family Ward- does, but we do it with younger people living out of their family homes in mind. I currently serve as a Family Home Evening Coordinator which means I plan weekly activities for the members in my ward. Mormon families usually designate Monday evenings as a time to gather as a family and serve, have fun, and talk about the gospel; because Young Single Adult members sometimes don't live with their families, we do the same thing as friends in the Young Single Adult branches. Since I am coordinator I plan the activities every week. We do a wide variety of activities like serving others, playing sports, and going on fun outings every week. I love this assignment because it lets me meet new people and have fun! Another big way that I live my faith is by choosing to serve as a Full-time Missionary for the church. As a missionary I will leave my home, family, friends, and studies for 18 months to go teach and serve people somewhere else around the world. We have been taught that one of the most important things that we can do as a people is serve and love those around us; missionary service is an opportunity to live that commandment with no distractions for a year and a half. I am excited to serve in the near future!
