Hi I'm Scott

I'm a husband. I'm a dad. I'm a runner. And yes, I am a Mormon!

About Me

I am a husband, father, brother, son and a kid at heart. I have a great life! My wife and I have been married for 9 years and have 2 awesome kids. I'm usually busy with work, family, or church. If you come to my house, you'll almost always find a few toys on the floor, good food in the kitchen, and a home improvement project that's never quite done.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I grew up in the Church, I have personally come to know of its truthfulness through the peace and comfort that its teachings bring. I can't point to one pivotal moment in my life upon which my testimony of the church hinges on...some part of me feels as though I’ve always known. In fact, I can vividly remember as a child feeling the spirit while my grandmother was teaching me how to read out of The Book of Mormon and being drawn to the source of those feelings. I understood early on that prayer, scriptures, and the sacrament were tools to help me feel my Heavenly Father's love. Since that time, I have felt these same feelings from the Lord through the Holy Spirit confirming the truthfulness of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Whenever I have followed these feelings, I have found increased joy, peace, understanding and many blessings for me and for my family. It’s been through these feelings and a lifetime of experiences, both bitter and sweet that I have come to know that Jesus Christ is my brother, Savior and Redeemer. I know He lives. I know He loves me… I feel it in my soul.

How I live my faith

I live my faith one day at a time. I am constantly reminded of the blessings my Heavenly Father has given me--my family, my friends, my health, my faith. All that I have I owe to my Heavenly Father and to Him I am extremely grateful. I try to show Him my gratitude by living as He would have me live and acting as He would have me act. I live my faith by fulfilling my callings, priesthood responsibilities and serving, serving, serving!

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Scott
The Word of Wisdom is the Lord's law of health. It began as a revelation given to the prophet Joseph Smith, and was accepted and affirmed by the church as part of its doctrine. Through that revelation the Lord revealed rules and guidelines about how we should manage our health and treat our bodies. For example, the Word of Wisdom states that we are not to partake of substances that would be addictive, or that would be harmful to our bodies and spirits. These substances include but are not limited to alchohol, illicit drugs, tabacco, coffee, and tea. In the same revelation the Lord condones every good, wholesome food for the use and benefit of man. He counsels that moderation should be used in all things concerning our diet and well-being. In short, the Word of Wisdom is an inspired document containing the key principles a person needs to live by to have a long and healthy life Show more Show less
