Hi I'm David

I'm a college student. I'm a runner. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Florida, born and raised. I come from a family of 6 siblings, of which I am the 3rd from youngest. I love the outdoors, going camping, and playing any type of sport. I ran track and cross country in high school and have really developed a love for running. Ultimate frisbee is one of my passions. I am a college student as an Environmental Science major. I am also learning Spanish as a 2nd language. It is challengig, but I like it. I love being active; as long as I am doing something, I'm happy. I love my family. They have been a great support to me throughout my life. I enjoy helping others and watching the smile it brings to their face. I am pretty much always smiling. It's just a part of me I guess. I love eating good food of any ethnicity, but I am a big fan of Mexican food and good ol' southern cooking. I like watching sunsets. I consider myself to be a pretty likeable person, at least I haven't had too many complaints. I love life and everything in it, even the struggles of it. After all, it helps us to learn and grow.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it makes me happy. Plain & Simple. It is something that I have come to find out for myself is true and I have seen the huge difference that it has made in my life. I am happy because I know that God has a plan for each of us and that He loves each of us. I am so grateful to know that all of us really are His children. It is something that has richly blessed my life with peace, happiness, comfort, and a desire to be better. I grew up in an area where there aren't a whole lot of members of the LDS Church. In fact, I was the only "Mormon" in my high school graduating class of ~420 people. Pretty much everybody that knew me, knew that I was a "Mormon". So if they ever had any questions about what my church believed, they often came to me. I would try to answer their questions the best that I could based on what I knew about the Church. But I soon realized that I needed to know for myself if these things I was telling other people were true, or if they were not. Well, up to this point, I had never really taken the time to study it out for myself. So I decided that I needed to know whether or not this church and our beliefs were true. I started prayerfully studying the Book of Mormon, a little bit each day. As I read it each day, I felt a powerful feeling of happiness and peace that I had never experienced before come into my life. I saw my faith in Jesus Christ grow and be strengthened as I read this book. As I was reading, I was thinking to myself, "Is this book true?" I was pretty sure that it was true because of how it made me feel as I read it, but I wanted to know without a shadow of a doubt if these things were true, so I continued reading. When I finshed the Book of Mormon, I got on my knees and prayed and asked if it was true. As I prayed, I know that God answered my prayer through the Holy Ghost. I felt a great sense of peace and joy, and I knew that it was true. You can know for yourself. Study it & pray about it. God will answer.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a missionary, I go talk to people about the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ and how it has blessed my life and how it can bless their life and their family. I teach people about Jesus Christ and how He has once again called a prophet of God on the Earth. I help people to strengthen their family relationships through the teachings of Jesus Christ. I have been so blessed to have the opportunity to share with others the thing that has helped me so much in my life and has given me hope, a sense of purpose and belonging, and more happiness in my life. Jesus Christ is the source of my happiness and my desire to improve myself. I have seen the message of the Restored Gospel literally change people's lifes. I have watched them overcome great obstacles such as addictions and family struggles as they have increased their faith in Jesus Christ through this message. It is amazing to see the before and after in the lifes of these people. They are so much happier and their families are strengthened tremendously as they have embraced and continue to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. The Lord truly has blessed me exceedingly in my life and I am so grateful to Him for it.
