Hi I'm Leon

Born and bred in New Zealand. Educated in Australia. I'm married to a beautiful, loving and caring wife. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I have been married since January 2011. Our goal is to create a home where love comes first. I have a weakness for anything to comes from my wife's kitchen especially her cupcakes. She makes these amazing Lemon Meringue cupcakes. I have just finished completing a business degree majoring in Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations, and now work as a Human Resource Graduate for the State Government. I love music. Playing on my saxophone, and singing. My wife plays the piano, so I love to sing when she is playing. Another pastime is reading Sci-fi fantasy books. I can't wait to finish the Wheel of Time series by author Robert Jordan which is now being completed by Brandon Sanderson who also is a Mormon. Reading on the bus to work is my only time I get in my busy schedule.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are Mormon, growing up I was surrounded by the teachings of Mormonism. My parents separated when I was a child, so I stopped attending church. A few years later, at the invitation of my Auntie, I decided to attend church. I felt the love of God at church, and I knew that Jesus Christ is real. Later I had an experience as a teenager during a difficult period when I wasn't feeling loved and felt that no-one cared. During this point I felt the spirit tell me that Jesus Christ will never leave me and that he is always there for me. In the Book of Mormon, a prophet by the name of Moroni invites all to pray and ask God in the name of Christ if the Book of Mormon is true. After I had finished reading the Book of Mormon through, I decided to ask God. My answer didn't come straight away but it came. It was different from the voice that I had heard in my earlier experience, this time is was a feeling of warmth and peace. I know that my prayers are answered, that God and Jesus Christ care's about me and my family.

How I live my faith

I try to set a moral example each day, and show Christ like attributes to family and friends. At times it can be difficult to show patience when it is wearing thin, I am currently perfecting the art with my wife. We pray, and read the scriptures together on a regular basis, we are trying to make it daily. At the local congregation, I am a leader in the church and look after men aged 18 years and older and their families. Part of this responsibility is making sure that the Bishop of the Ward is aware of the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs of the men and their families. Previously I have helped in the youth and missionary programs. I believe that helping out inn the community not only blesses others, it blesses your own life,
