Hi I'm Vivian

I'm a Mormon mother, grandmother, and as of July a new great-grandmother! The gospel made a huge difference raising my family!

About Me

I love change! Our family has lived in Woods Cross UT, Canyon Country CA, Bowie Maryland, Nauvoo IL, Farmington UT and we are now back in Washington state taking care of my 90+ year old parents. We raised 8 children who are now all married and have given us 31 grandchildren! We love to work in the yard and determined when we came "home" to make my parents place look like a park. It has been 3 years of hard work but my parents are so proud of their beautiful place. I love being creative and using garage sale or thrift store finds to make fun yard art or useful sitting areas in my parents 2 1/2 acre yard. I am very thrifty! Over the years I have found that it doesn't take a lot of money to have nice things if you are a little creative and willing to work hard. I have found bargain stores wherever I have lived and enjoyed the challenge of raising a large family on only my husbands income. I was a stay at home mom and now with my husband retired I am a stay at home daughter! I figure my parents gave me 20 wonderful years at the beginning of my life and now I can give them 10 or so at the end of theirs.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a Mormon. My parents always took me to church and stressed the importance of being a good person. I watched their example and saw their complete honesty and integrity. I understood the importance of good morals when I had friends who felt it wasn't a big deal. My parents followed the council of our prophet and held a weekly family home evening every Monday night where we played games and spent time together. During my teenage years I really liked my parents because I knew how fun they were and how much they liked being with me and my brothers and sister. I have had people ask when it was that I personally knew the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was Christs true church. I can honestly say that I have always known. As a child I knew Jesus wanted me to be good and follow his example and I felt his sweet spirit when I went to church. As a teen I felt the same. I learned how good it felt to be strong and follow His teachings. As an adult I am so grateful I could live my life knowing what the Lord expected of me and when I pray I know he hears my prayers.

How I live my faith

Even though my parents are 93 and 91 they never want to miss church! Their health is good. That is probably because of generations of healthy living as we are taught in our church. I lead the singing in Sacrament meeting on Sundays. I am not super musical but I really enjoy doing it now that I have learned how. I also teach one lesson a month in our women's organization. Life is a little different being here with my parents but I love knowing from day to day we are never alone. Our heavenly Father is aware of us and what we are doing. I love seeing my children be good people. I see their honesty, hard work and good lifestyles and know they are teaching our grandchildren good principals. It brings so much peace and happiness to us!
