Hi I'm Claudia

I'm a first generation American citizen, I am a convert to The Church, I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife, mother, bilingual teacher and convert to the church. I joined the church when I was 19 years old. I attended college in California and received a Master's degree in education in Utah.I have four living children. I have struggled through infertility and the death of two children before I had a chance to meet them. Today, I am in a good place. I love to create custom handmade jewelry in my spare time and devote most of my days to my four children one of which was recently diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome, a form of Autism. I admit, I never imagined I would have a child who would develop such a mysterious developmental disorder. I try to do all that I can to educate myself and help my young son adapt to the world around him. I am his strongest advocate.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 18, I dated a boy who was a Mormon. After dating about a year, his sister was married in the Los Angeles Temple. I remember he was so excited to be there. I remember wondering "What's the big deal?" and later asking what makes the Temple so special. He told me that the temple was a place where you could be "sealed" or married to your spouse FOREVER. He said that most marriages ended when either person dies. However a temple marriage meant that you could be married to the person throughout eternity. I thought that was the most incredible thing I had ever heard. At the wedding, the boy's aunt, who lived near me, invited us to attend the mormon church in my area. I went and felt a wonderful feeling of belonging and love. That was almost twenty years ago. The feeling has never changed. We have lived in 2 different states and I always feel like I have a family waiting for me when I walk into the chapel for the first time in a new place. I love the structure and principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The smartest thing I have ever done is join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It has given me joy and comfort in the good times and the bad.

How I live my faith

I live my faith daily as I interact with those around me. I love providing service to those in need and volunteering whenever and wherever possible. I use my Spanish to translate whenever I'm needed. Sometimes it's a pharmacy, other times it's the Department of Motor Vehicles, still other times I volunteer to interpret for Spanish speaking parents at my children's school. I always serve in the church when I am asked. I have served as a president of the Sunday School for children, president of the Young Women's program and the church Librarian among other callings. I am currently serving as the church public relations representative. I always make an effort to be an example to my children. I know they are watching and learning by all that I do and say. I want them to know that I love God and my Savior Jesus Christ and I want to live my life to please them and leave this earth better than I found it.
