Hi I'm Dent

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Retired Airline Captain, Former Hollywood Actor/Stuntman, currently a full-time spousal to-do-list engineer, I love my wife and family very much and... I'm a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

A challenge by my sister sparked an interest in investigating the validity of the claim by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints that families could be together forever. I was very happy with my current life style but felt that if I could be with my family forever… that would be worth pursuing. During the next few years I read the Bible, the Book of Mormon, the rest of the Standard Works and many other books, stories, and talks. I also attended church as often as possible. I had dozens of confirming moments, but the overriding answer I received was that the Book of Mormon was the key. If the Book of Mormon was truly Ancient Scripture then everything else was true and if not, then the Church was false. The Holy Ghost bore witness to me on numerous occasions of the truthfulness of the gospel and answered a myriad of questions in many ways. The feeling of love, warmth, and acceptance that I felt as the Holy Ghost testified to me of the truths that I sought became an additional motivator. An interesting phenomenon began to take place in my life. The more I tried to follow the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the more I felt an indescribable feeling of peace, joy, and happiness. Words are inadequate, the sensation must be felt to be understood. I also noticed that I was experiencing a change in my very nature. The desire to be kind, loving, fair, and honest increased as I practiced daily the tenants of the church (loving my family, scripture study, prayer both personal and family, serving in church callings, loving my neighbors, etc.). The more I tried to do, the better I felt, not instantly but subtly, over time. The feelings were wonderful and I began wanting to share my new found treasure with my family and others.

How I live my faith

For the last 34 years, my daily study of the gospel has continued to deepen my commitment and determination to return home to the highest level of the Celestial Kingdom. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the key to that goal. To attain that goal a husband and wife must work together and help each other pursue eternal progression and exaltation. They need to become like Father in Heaven. This is made possible by the atoning sacrifice and teachings of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Perfection is a process not an event. We can all get there if we will have faith, are obedient to the teachings and commandments of Jesus Christ, and continue to improve line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little there a little. A very basic principle of the gospel is to share its teachings with all who will hear them, starting with our own family, extended family, friends, neighbors and then all others within the sphere of our influence. How sad we will be if we make it to the highest level of the Celestial Kingdom without our family and friends. And how happy we will be sharing the Celestial Kingdom and all its blessings with all our loved ones. The blessings of the Celestial Kingdom include all that our Father in Heaven has.
