Hi I'm Gage Peterson

I'm a 6' 7" Computer Scientist, I was home-schooled, I love dancing Lindy hop with my wife and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I was born and raised in Idaho Falls being the oldest of 8 kids. We where also homeschooled! I got interested in making video games so I taught myself to program when I was 12 and have been doing it ever since. I then when way out of my comfort zone and this geek learned to dance! Ballroom dance to be exact. Which turned out to be a really good way to find a wife as well.

Why I am a Mormon

Why I'm Mormon. I'm Mormon because it makes sense. One of the most beautiful things about the Mormon faith is that it don't ask you to "just believe." It's very important in the Mormon faith and to me that we all need to seek out the truth for ourselves, we need to look for God and ask him all the really important questions about life because after all he's the only one who really knows. One of those questions is what religion to choose. Why? Because I believe that there is only one truth. I do not believe that all religions can be or are correct because that would be silly considering how many conflicts there would be between our beliefs, not just on trivial matters but even on the requirements of salvation. This is why I believe which religion to choose is vitally important question and not a trivial "go with the flow" one. So for this reason I had to read the Book of Mormon to pray and ask God if the Book of Mormon was true kneeling in my bathroom, as a young teenager, I did. The most beautiful peace of mind was given to me and I knew what I was doing was right, it hasn't been the easiest religion to be a part of but it has been richly rewarding. I can truly say that I feel that God has blessed me in so many ways and that the Book of Mormon truly does testify of Christ and his atonement. I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet like those in the Bible and he truly was the one that God gave his authority, showing his children that he cares about them as much as he did for those in the Bible and that our day and age needs relevant teachings for our unique problems. I know that anyone who truly seeks for truth will find it.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by reading the scriptures each night, me and my wife always kneel by our bedside and offer a prayer together and then separately which I feel has really helped us to stay close as a couple. I served a 2 year mission for my church in Roseville California, where I rode my bike around and talked to people about Christ. I also serve as a "Home teacher" which means that I visit 2-3 families at least once a month just to see how they are doing, share a spiritual message, and help them in any way that I can. I also often times teach a lesson for a class in our church about some gospel topic such as faith, or repentance.
